Help Out!

With COVID-19 sticking us in our homes, many of us have less to do than usual. If you've ever wanted to help out on the wiki, but haven't known how to or had the time to, now's your chance! (Or if you're running out of things to do... Don't worry. There's always more to do.) Helping on the wiki might not seem like it can be fun, but you just have to find what's fun for you!

For example, my favorite tasks are fixing broken redirects, correcting grammar with the help of a Chrome extension, and making infoboxes. Very satisfying.

Without further ado, here's a list of what you can do to help! Please ask any questions you have!

Grammar

This is always a big need on the wiki. Find pages that need help and fix them! Here are a few resources that can help you decide where to start:

• Special:Fewestrevisions
• Special:Randompage
• Special:RandomInCategory

Infoboxes

Infoboxes are so useful! They're the little box on the side of a page that tells you important information about the subject. Pretty much every page should have an infobox. You can help!

• Make new infoboxes (Please get these approved before adding them to pages.)
• Add infoboxes to categories
• Improve infoboxes

Links

• Add links to pages. Some places to start:
  • Special:Deadendpages
  • Special:Longpages
  • Special:Random
• Fix existing links. Some problems you might fix:
  • Special:Disambiguations
  • Special:Wantedpages
• Add language links to pages.
  • Our sister wiki is https://gardiens-des-cites-perdue.fandom.com/fr/wiki/Wiki_Gardiens_des_Cit%C3%A9s_Perdues
  • To do so, put [[fr:PageName]]. (PageName meaning the name of the page on the French wiki.)

Categories

• Rename categories. This is always something we need help with because it's a big project. You have to go to all of the pages in a category and change the name on each one.
• Categorize Special:Uncategorizedpages, Special:Uncategorizedimages, and Special:Uncategorizedtemplates.
• Add descriptions to Special:Wantedcategories.

Photos

• Add photos to pages. These must be canon. Here are some canon resources you can use:

Miscellaneous

• Incorporate Special:Lonelypages into other pages.
• Expand Special:Shortpages.
• Generally improve high-use pages. Resources:

  • Special:Mostlinkedpages/Special:Mostrevisions
  • Special:Mostlinkedfiles
  • Special:Mostlinkedtemplates (Focus on wiki templates, not personal templates.)

Admin Tasks

This is a section for myself (and any other admins who want to use this) because these tasks are pretty much only performable by administrators (or too complicated for most users).

• Fix Special:DoubleRedirects
• Review Special:Protectedpages and Special:Protectedtitles
• Fix/delete Special:BrokenRedirects
• Incorporate Special:Uncategorizedcategories into the Special:CategoryTree.
• Delete Special:Unusedcategories, Special:Unusedimages/Special:UnusedFiles, and Special:Unusedtemplates (be careful with this one because sometimes they're WIPS).
• Sort through Special:WantedPages and remove red links.
  • Subcategories: Special:Wantedfiles, Special:Wantedtemplates, Special:Wantedcategories.
• Sort through Special:Listredirects.
  • Special:Randomredirect
• Review Special:Mostcategories to ensure they are all necessary.
