Lost Cities Keeper Wiki
Lost Cities Keeper Wiki

Why hello! I'm Gildie, an admin here, and today we're going to learn about creating location pages. Cath has already done a few page guides, which are incredibly helpful -- feel free to check them out on the top nav. Our goal is to make our pages more structured and uniform, which will hopefully be much easier with these guides, so... let's get started!

The infobox we use for this page is called {{Infobox:_Places}}, and I've included instructions for filling this out as well.

Fairly self-explanatory. Just name the page after the location, and make sure to capitalize it correctly. If the proper capitalization isn't specified in the book, a good rule to follow is to capitalize the first word and the last word, as well as any descriptive adjectives, nouns, or action verbs. For example, if the location is named "the stairway to heaven", you would capitalize the first word and last word in the page title ("The" and "Heaven"), but also "Stairway", because it's a noun -- so you would name the page "The Stairway to Heaven".

Alright, let's get to content. Just to clarify, there's no heading necessary for the introduction, but I'm putting one here for the sake of organization.

The first sentence of the introduction should state what the location is in the simplest way possible, and make sure to bold the location's name in the first sentence as well. After that, include when it was mentioned, then a simple description of the location and/or an overview of its affiliation with the plot of the story.

Exactly what it sounds like. In this section, go into more detail about the location's appearance and characteristics.

Sections for location-specific details

These are absolutely optional, but if there is a notable detail about the location (such as the mode of transportation required to enter Atlantis) that can be included on the page, create another section for it after the description. Please make sure these details are specific to this location. For example, you wouldn't make a section titled "Light-Leaping" for the Eternalia page -- while that is the primary method of transportation in Eternalia, it is used throughout the Elvin cities and there is nothing unique about Eternalia in this regard.

In this section, you can list any important events that have taken place in the location. These should be organized by book -- if an event took place before the timeline of Keeper of the Lost Cities, use "Pre-Keeper" instead of a book title. The events are separated by bullet points, and each book title should be bolded -- here's an example:

  • Pre-Keeper

[description of event that happened prior to the timeline of the series]

[description of event that happened during Everblaze]

Known Places in [Location]

If the location is a city or region, it may be necessary to have another section for individual places within this location. These could include buildings, landmarks, or other notable points of interest. This section is usually written in the form of a list, with links to each location's respective page (if possible).

Don't create an extra heading, but make sure to put the {{Places}} template at the bottom of the page:

Aaaand that's all! Here's the markup code for this page structure, so feel free to copy and paste it into the source code of your page and edit it as necessary.
