Umber Leaves are a type of gnomish produce, and were one of the first Elvin foods that Sophie tried. They are described to look like shrivelled black strips that made Sophie want to grimace. Sophie described them as tasting like chicken, which was much to the horror of Fitz since all elves are vegetarian. Later when Gildie had arrived at Havenfield, there was pile of dried umber leaves, which was to be distributed to animals, in the hope of transitioning them to be vegetarian. Sophie later lit the pile of leaves for the cold flareadon.
