  • Here is my noncopyrighted version of what I call Legacy!

    _________________________

Sophie's powers are pushed to the limit in Legacy, the thrilling eighth book in the bestselling Keeper of the Lost Cities series. Sophie and her friends are unsure of who to trust. The Neverseen are holding captive one of their own—one bad move, and he's dead. The escaped baby trolls are wreaking havoc throughout the Lost Cities, and the Council wants to inspect the fake caches. Meanwhile, even Sophie's friends are fighting. The Lost Cities seem to be unraveling—what happens when you're the only one left?

    Prologue

There was no time to waste. All of the answers were just a breath away. Waiting could be Sophie's downfall.

    She'd learned her lesson.

It was easier now. She knew what she was going to see. She knew, roughly at least, what she'd find. She just wished someone was with her, to lean back on.

She held her breath and dived.

It was harder now. There was no safety net woven of water or shadows. The only sound was the rush of her ears. She didn't know who she wanted, she just knew she wished he was there. She remembered feeling calmer with him there.

Then she remembered again, but this time, it was someone else's memory.

    She finally had the answers.

They just weren't what she wanted.

    Chapter One

"What's wrong, Sophie? Stop hiding from me."

Sophie avoided Biana's eyes, trying to blink away the itch in her eyelash. "I'm not hiding. I'm right here, okay?"

"Sure," her friend snorted. She crossed her arms. "I don't know if this helps, but Fitz's only relief from the pain these days has been you. He's completely head over heels, you know."

Sophie managed a weak smile, but thoughts of Fitz just filled her with stress. Sure, he was head over heels, but he'd grown up his whole life as the golden boy. Would he still like her if he knew the price she came with?

"Sophie, oh my god! You're doing it again!"

Sophie blinked her eyes open. Funny, she'd forgotten they were closed. "Huh?"

Biana was smirking across from her, looking magnificent as always, even more so with the stormy cloud backdrop. "You zoned out as soon as I said my brother's name." Though she didn't say more, the look in her eyes was teasing enough.

Sophie sighed. "Ugh, I'm being a bad friend, aren't I. I'm supposed to be helping you. I mean, my brother didn't just betray me for, like, the billionth time. I mean, I don't...have...a brother, but..." She rolled her eyes. "Sorry, I didn't get much sleep last night." Silveny had been slacking off in her helping-Sophie-sleep duties. Sophie couldn't blame her, though. After all, she was a mom now.

    Biana frowned. "It's fine."

God, why did I mention Alvar?

Biana shook her head a few times, as if...Sophie shivered. As if there was a demon in her head, a demon she was trying to escape from. At least she was wearing short sleeves again, displaying her scars for all to see.

"We should get outside," Biana finally said. She looked at the sky critically. "It's gonna rain soon."

At least we know Fintan can't attack us during the rain. Then again, Marella can't protect us either.

    I wish Tam was here.

Biana dutifully took the lead to Everglen, looking behind her ever so often to see if Sophie was still there. It's not like the mostly-elf-with-a-hint-of-alicorn-DNA could have left, anyway—Flori was walking steadily yet silently behind her, Tarina to her left. Nubiti was probably tracking her underground, too. Only Sandor and Bo were on their breaks, both reluctantly.

Lately, Everglen had been less of a reassuring, breathtaking castle and more of a reason to think about Fitz. Sophie knew she should tell him what had happened, but he was going through so much, what with Alvar's betrayal. She wanted to be the constant in his life, someone he could depend on. After all, nothing was wrong with that.

    • Biana dutifully took the lead to Everglen, looking behind her ever so often to see if Sophie was still there.

After all, nothing was wrong with that.

      __________new parts_______________

"C'mon!" Biana snapped, creaking open the gate. Everglen was going through recent renovations. Sophie had heard Edaline and Della talking; Edaline had said since Everglen couldn't be a safe place anymore, she would volunteer Havenfield. Sophie didn't really want to know what that meant. So long as she had her custard bursts, she was happy.

"Is Fitz home?" Sophie asked haltingly, insides constricted. On one hand, she really wanted to see her longtime-crush-who-was-finally-sorta-her-boyfriend. On the other, she really wanted to ignore the pressing matchmaking issue. Only Grady and Edaline knew--and Grady seemed rather relieved, to be honest.

"Yeah, I think so," Biana responded offhandedly. Her biggest concern seemed to be getting in before the rain came. She'd just painted her nails. (Oh god, does it even rain in the Lost Cities? Did I forget something?) "I think he's with Keefe. Check...his room?"

She locked eyes with Sophie, giving her shivers. "Sophie, don't try anything with my brother and have Keefe watching. We all know what he's capable of."

Sophie nodded obediantly, a little confused. Why was Keefe a problem? I mean, she knew he didn't want to be present in a make-out fest. No one did. But...what did she mean by that last part? Surely...

      "Shut up!"

The crisply accented voice rang through the ellaborate front hall. Sophie's first thought was that it was Alden, but no. Alden Vacker would never holler at someone to shut up. Which left...

Fitz stomped down the hall, stopping immediately when he saw Sophie. "Oh! Sophie! I, uh, didn't know you were here. Sorry." His dark hair was dry and imposing, unlike Sophie's somewhat damp flop of a mess. She blushed openly when she saw his teal eyes.

"Coward!" Keefe's unmistakeable voice called out behind Fitz. He ran up, his light hair styled artfully enough that Sophie could tell something was wrong. She watched as he shot Fitz a fierce, ice-blue glare.

    • "Shut up!"

      -----new parts---------

“What’s going on?” Sophie mouthed to Biana, who rolled her eyes in a way that screamed “I know something you don’t!”.

Keefe glanced away from Fitz and seemingly noticed Sophie for the first time. “Oh...hi, Foster.” Sophie couldn’t help but notice something in his posture deflated when he saw her there. Was he...mad at her? Why?

“We just came in to escape the rain,” Sophie said awkwardly, blushing for a reason she couldn’t discern. Why was she embarrassed for Keefe to see her there? It was natural she would go. Fitz was her boyfriend, pretty much. That didn’t change the conflicting emotions she was feeling...and she knew that Keefe knew it.

But he didn’t tease her about the teenage hormone-fest he could surely feel radiating off of her. “I guess I should be going now,” he said testily, shooting Fitz a glare. “You and your girlfriend probably have things to do.” He stormed away.

Sophie didn’t want to wonder what he meant by that, and why he seemed so angry. He was clearly having best friend issues, and the best thing for her was to stay out of it.

Biana gazed into the distance, where Keefe had retreated. Watching her, Sophie absently tugged out an eyelash. Great. She wasn’t supposed to do that.

“I think I’ll go have a little talk with Keefe,” Biana mumbled, flickering out of sight.

“Biana? You there?” Fitz seemed wary, but when his sister didn’t answer, he relaxed a little. “Sorry you had to see that. Keefe was being unreasonable.”

“He called you a coward,” Sophie said. She didn’t mean for it to come out of her mouth, but once it was there, she regretted it. Stay out of this, Sophie.

“Like I said, unreasonable,” Fitz muttered. His teal eyes were cold, not yet warmed by Sophie. “I wish I could make him listen to us.”

      “Us?”

“My dad and I.” Fitz shook his head, clearing it. “Never mind. Can you change the topic?”

Sophie nodded, not sure whether to be grateful the awkwardness would pass or disappointed she didn’t get more answers out of Fitz. “Well…”

      Chapter Two

“I’m so confused,” Sophie confessed. “I don’t know what to think anymore. About anything. I can’t even believe what Alden did. I mean, none of us believed Fitz, and then he turned out to be right. And nothing makes sense anymore, and I…” Sophie quieted. She trusted Dex, but they’d had an awkward past, what with the crush cuff situation. Best not to spill her boy troubles, especially the Unmatcheable thing.

“Sounds confusing,” Dex observed, only half-listening. The other half of him was handling Iggy, pouring some elixir on top of him. Iggy was going to be rocking a spiky red afro, which had been, of course, Dex’s idea. Sophie wasn’t even supposed to know, except that it said Iggy’s Spiky Red Afro Elixir on the elixir bottle, clearly something Dex had missed. Sophie couldn’t wait to see the results.

Spending quality time with Dex was rare these days. He was always busy with his important Black Swan work or training or whatever. Sophie wished he had more time to be her best friend.

      -----new parts---------

but she knew he had important work to do.

“Well, I’m off,” Dex said, standing up.

He’d caught Sophie off guard. “Wait, I thought-”

“The results will kick in in a half hour,” Dex said, misreading her confusion. “I’m working on a new project with Tinker. Pretty sure she needs me right now. See you around?”

“See you,” Sophie mumbled, unsure why she felt sad. Dex was allowed to have his own life… but it kind of felt like his “own life” was seperating further and further from hers.

Dex left the room, and Sophie sighed, collapsing onto her pillow. “Well, this sucks,” she said to Iggy. Talking to her imp was probably better than talking to herself. “The one friend who’s not acting even a little weird doesn’t even have time for me anymore.”

      Iggy burped. Sophie fanned herself.

She clapped her hands, lifting the shades from the huge windows. Light spread all over the room. The curtains would have been open already, but Dex had said it was too bright to see what he was doing.

The movement had become natural to Sophie over the years, but she remembered her first night at Havenfield. She’d been awed by her huge room and scared to ask Edaline or Grady how to close the windows so that she could sleep. Sophie could hardly believe she’d once been that girl.

Sophie clapped again, watching the shades swipe down. Clap, clap. Up, down. Clap, clap, clap. Up, down, up. It felt like her windows were the only thing she had conrol over.

“God, you’re so selfish,” she told herself. “You’re wallowing in boy trouble while Tam is in the clutches of the Neverseen.” And Linh... Linh was not taking the absense of her brother well. She’d been spending a lot of time in solidarity. Sophie knew Wylie was looking out for her, though. Linh had been with Tam through thick and thin… Sophie was praying Wylie was enough.

“So, what now, do you think?” Sophie asked Iggy. His hair was starting to stand up, and the faintest tints of red were glimmering at the roots. “You want me to call Silveny, do you, Igster?”

Life was really getting to Sophie if she was relying to her mischevious pet imp for life choices. Though the alicorn mama was probably a good idea. She reached out mentally, picturing Silveny’s frame. Silveny?

SOPHIE! SOPHIE! SOPHIE! Silveny seemed enthusiastic about hearing Sophie’s voice, but she also seemed tired. Raising a baby was hard work. Twins? Sophie was sure Silveny and Greyfell had their hands full.

      How are you? Sophie transmitted.

      GOOD! SOPHIE! LUNA! WYNN! SOPHIE!

You want me to meet Luna and Wynn again?

YES! SOPHIE MEET LUNA WYNN! KEEFE!

Sophie rolled her eyes. Of course Silveny had found a way to make it about Keefe. Which reminded her of his argument with Fitz, and Fitz saying something about him and Alden advising Keefe to do something. Which wasn’t her business at all. So stop thinking about it.

      SOPHIE OKAY?

With a start, Sophie remembered Silveny could still feel her thoughts and emotions. I’m fine.

      SOPHIE NOT OKAY! SILVENY HELP!

      No, Silveny, it’s really fine.

SILVENY HELP SOPHIE! SOPHIE BE OKAY!

It’s really fine. Um… how are you doing?

      GOOD! LUNA! WYNN! SILVENY MAMA!

Sophie smiled. I’m glad you’re enjoying them.

All of a sudden, Silveny transmitted a word Sophie had never used with her before, a word she’d never spoken to Sophie before.

      LOVE!

With the word came images, images of the baby alicorns cuddling up to Silveny, images of Silveny and Greyfell and Luna and Wynn playing together, images of the babies and Silveny and Greyfell and the babies and Silveny and the babies.

      I’m so happy for you.

SILVENY LOVE! SILVENY HAPPY! SILVENY HELP SOPHIE BE OKAY!

Of course Silveny had brought the conversation back to Sophie’s own problems. She was too intuitive for her own good, that alicorn. Do you want to come for a visit?

      NO VISIT! BABIES NEED SILVENY!

      Okay, okay. Visit soon?

      SOON! SOPHIE! LUNAWYNNSILVENY! KEEFE!

Okay, soon we’ll visit. Or you’ll visit.

      YES! VISIT! SOPHIE! KEEFE!

Sophie smiled. It was nice to feel wanted.

    • Chapter Three

      “Do you want to talk?”

Sophie looked up with a start. “Mom! When did you get here?”

Edaline stood in the doorway of her room, holding a plate piled with custard bursts and a glass of bright green lushberry juice. “You’ve been moody all day. Is it about the Unmatcheable thing?”

Sophie shrugged. Her first instinct was to deny it, but the custard bursts smelled like cherry and chocolate and goodness. And Edaline was Edaline. And there was a lump in Sophie’s throat, the kind of lump only a mom can remedy. And the lushberry juice was cold and sweet. And Sophie wanted to talk to Edaline, she really did.

“I don’t know what Fitz will do if he finds out,” Sophie said helplessly, looking at Edaline, who was suddenly on her bed next to her. She did not say ‘when he finds out’. She said ‘if he finds out’. A part of Sophie still thought it had to have been a mistake.

“If he doesn’t want to be with you once he knows what comes along, he’s not worth your time.” As always, Edaline was right. “You deserve to be with a boy who treats you right.”

“Or girl,” Sophie added, thinking about her time as a human. She still wasn’t sure if there were LGBTQ elves. If there were, no one seemed to care.

Edaline looked Sophie in the eyes. “You deserve someone who sees you for you.”

“Thanks, Mom.” Sophie didn’t know what she’d do without Edaline. “Where’s Dad?”

“Oh, Grady’s on T-Rex duty.” Edaline laughed. “Can I hug you?”

Sophie loved that Edaline was intuitive enough to ask her. “Yes. Yes, please.”

And so Edaline did, and for the first time in weeks, Sophie felt a little better.

Sophie chewed on her brattail. Even after all the years in the Lost Cities, the taste still made her think about sausage. She liked it when they served it at Foxfire.

“Apparently, there’s a party at Nevershore this weekend.” Biana was heavily made up, as usual, and her excitement was obvious. Sophie couldn’t remember whose estate Nevershore was, there were too many.

“A party? But… Tam… ” Sophie faltered, unsure of what to say. But Tam is with the Neverseen? But we need to get him out, not party?

Keefe rolled his eyes. “Live a little, Foster! Not only are we super awesome evil-fighting purveyors of awesomeness, we’re also teenagers. Teenagers party. It’s a thing.”

In all her Elvin years, Sophie had never been to a party like the one Biana was talking about. A party with kids and just kids. She’d been to formal events, sure. But… parties?

“You’re coming, right, Sophie?” Biana clasped her manicured hands together. “Please? I need another girl.”

“Am I invited?” Sophie asked awkwardly.

Biana laughed. “It’s not like that, Sophie. You just go, you don’t need an invitation.”

Sophie shook her head, confused. “I don’t get it.”

      Keefe laughed. “You wouldn’t.”

Keefe was sitting on the far end of the table, the farthest possible from Fitz. Sophie was positioned awkwardly in the middle, across from Biana. Dex wasn’t at Foxfire that day. He was probably out with Tinker.

“Okay, I guess I’ll go,” Sophie said hesitantly.

“Great!” Biana squealed. Her excitement gave Sophie a twisty feeling in her gut. What had she gotten herself into?

    • Chapter Four part one

      “Is this okay?”

Sophie stood awkwardly, acutely aware of Biana’s eyes on her form. Edaline had gotten excited for the party and lent her one of Jolie’s old dresses. It was short and fitted and silver and Sophie hated everything about it.

Biana bit her lip, smearing glittery pink lipstick just enough that it looked fine. “Well… it’s not the most current, but that’s fine. Rustic. And the silver goes okay with your eyes. If we had more time, we’d tweak it, but the party is soon. When did you tell Edaline you’d be home?”

Sophie shrugged. “She expects late. I think she’s used to these parties, from Jolie. I don’t know about Dad. You know he’s anti-growing up.”

Biana laughed. “Tough life. Come on!” She grabbed Sophie’s arm and a clear leaping crystal, and the next thing Sophie knew, she was standing in front of a huge estate, along with a few other stragglers.

Sophie and Biana walked into Nevershore, and Sophie could already feel a headache rooting. Where were their other friends? Did people even want the cursed girl there? “Are there adults here?” she hissed to Biana.

Biana snorted. “Oh god, imagine. No, it’s just us kiddies.”

Sophie nodded uncomfortably. This was NOT her kind of scene. “Where’s Fitz?”

“Oh, he’s not coming. Doesn’t feel like the shame. But Keefe is somewhere. I think you two need to have a conversation.” At Sophie’s confused face, Biana rolled her eyes. “Has anyone ever told you how clueless you are? And uptight? Ugh, whatever. One sec.” She disappeared into the crowd.

The music was loud and the lights dimmed. Sophie couldn’t make out any familiar faces. “Biana?” she called, feeling pathetic.

“I’m baaack!” Biana sung, reappearing right next to Sophie. Sophie knew if Alvar hadn’t just betrayed the Vackers, Biana would have ditched her for good. But people were avoiding Biana, and Biana was a people person. Sophie was just about her last chance.

Biana shoved a large cup of something in Sophie’s hands. “Come on, let’s go find Keefe!”

“Wait, what did you say about me needing to have a conversation with him?” Sophie mumbled, scrambling after Biana, who was off again. “Slow down!” She took a sip of whatever drink Biana had given her. It wasn’t lushberry juice like she’d thought. It was sweet, but it had a fiery aftertaste. Elvin food was always surprising Sophie.

“Have you seen Keefe Sencen?” Sophie heard Biana asking random elves. Sophie squinted at the contents of her cup, curious as to what color the drink was. It was too dark to tell. She took another hesitant sip. It exploded in her chest like lemons, not altogether bad.

“Biana, what are we supposed to do here?” Sophie called, but Biana had either used her Vanisher perks or gone off to find Keefe, or both. She was alone again, and she kind of hated it. Being alone in a crowd. An oxymoron if she’d ever heard one.

Sophie heard loud laughter coming from behind her. She turned and saw the tall silhouette of Stina Heks, surrounded by some of her friends.

Sophie had conflicting emotions about Stina. When they’d first met, she’d been an awful girl, ill-tempered and bratty. Then Sophie had found out that Stina’s father, Timkin Heks, was a part of the Black Swan. And Stina had ended up being a much better friend to Marella Redek than Sophie ever could. But she still wasn’t a fan of the sometimes-snobby girl.

Sophie backed away slowly, not wanting to start something awkward. She scanned the crowd for Biana or Keefe. She didn’t know who else was coming.

Once Stina was a safe distance away, Sophie relaxed a little. She helped herself to more of the mystery-drink. She found herself enjoying the aftertaste.

She closed her eyes, and the sound and the heat and the smell and the darkness seemed to blur together into one scary place she wasn’t ready for. Sophie stayed in the corner until her huge cup was empty, then reluctantly entered the middle of the party again. She wasn’t sure what time it was, or how long Biana had been gone. She felt a little wavy inside.

“Sophie! Finally! Where were you?” Biana squeezed through the crowd, her cheeks flushed and face vibrant. “I was looking for you!”

The room tilted for a second. Sophie staggered backwards, dropping her empty cup. “What-”

“Easy there!” Biana grabbed Sophie, forcing her back to standing position. “You drank the whole thing? Didn’t you realize… ? Oh god, I didn’t tell you?”

Sophie didn’t know what Biana was blabbering about. She felt a little lightheaded. The world was still tilty. This whole party thing wasn’t too bad.

Biana jabbed Sophie. Hard. She winced. “Sophie, that was fizzleberry wine.”

      Fizzleberry… ?

      Oh.

      OH.

So that was why she felt so weird.

      Sophie was… drunk?

The world tilted abruptly again, and Biana wasn’t fast enough. Sophie felt herself slipping…

      “Easy there, Foster!”

    • Chapter Four part two

Sophie blinked upwards, dazed. Keefe’s face stared back at her, amused. “See, Team Foster-Keefe is perfect. You fall down, I pick you up. Vice versa.” He set her upright. “Honestly, though, I don’t think I’d be altogether comfortable with trust falls right now.”

Biana shrugged helplessly. “She’s never been to a party before, Keefe.”

He rolled his eyes. “And I’m sure whatever happened here is entirely your fault. Sorry I’m late, Darling Daddy started hounding me about having too much of a social life.” He said it so absently it was as if he didn’t care, but he did. He definitely did. “Actually? I’m already sick of it here. Come on, Foster, we’re going to get you some fresh air.”

Biana’s form started blinking. “Is it okay if I stay here? I’ve been having a good time.”

Keefe shrugged. “Go have fun. Never fear. The Keefster is here!” He winced. “Okay, that could have used some work.”

      Sophie stumbled a little. “Help?”

Keefe grabbed her hand and led her towards the large doors. He had been right; once breathing in the clean air, Sophie felt a little less woozy. “Thanks,” she mumbled.

Keefe smirked. “You’re cute when you’re helpless.”

Sophie sat down on the grass, not wanting to risk it again. She had a twisty feeling in her gut.

Keefe sat down next to her. “Okay, guess I’m on Sophie-guard duty. Speaking of which, where are your bodyguards?”

Sophie shrugged. “Mom convinced them not to come.”

“Sounds like a good mom,” Keefe mumbled.

      “Sorry.”

Keefe shrugged. “Whatever. How have you been, Foster? It’s been a while.”

      Sophie shrugged. “I’m unmatchable.”

      Oh no.

      Why did she say that?

Sophie really didn’t mean to say that.

It just sort of slipped out.

“Wait… what?” Keefe gaved a smile, an incredulous, forced smile. “You… I thought you were against the… I mean… does Fitz know?”

Sophie hicupped. “No. I don’t want to worry him.”

Keefe looked stunned. “You mean… no one else knows?”

“Mom and Dad do,” Sophie slurred. “But none of my friends. Except you, I guess. Don’t tell anyone.”

Keefe frowned. “You should tell Fitz. He’d want to know.”

Sophie shrugged. “I’m scared. What if he doesn’t want to date me anymore?”

Keefe frowned. “Then he’s insane. You deserve someone who wouldn’t cower out just because it’s a bad match.” He blushed.

Sophie frowned. “That’s what Mom said.” Her voice caught. “Oh my god. I have to get home.” She stood up unsteadily.

“Don’t rush, Foster. I’m here.” Keefe looked genuinely concerned. “I’m going to help get you home, okay?”

“But you didn’t even get a chance to be in the party,” Sophie mumbled.

Keefe smiled. “Foster. We’re teenagers. There will be other parties. There will not be other Fosters.”

Sophie smiled gratefully. “Thanks.” She fumbled in her pocket for her Havenfield crystal. Once she had it, she held it up. Keefe put his hand around hers. “Three… two… one… ”

When they got to Havenfield, Grady was waiting.

    • This is my Fanfic Preface of the Legacy :

Every minute they were stalling was every extra minute Tam had to be with the Neverseen.

But Sophie was done. She was sick and tired of being bossed by the Black Swan, tired of being fussed over by so many people like she was a doll.

She was project Moonlark, they had made for a purpose she didn't know............yet, but she had her own purpose, her own goal. She might be the Black Swan's creation but the choice was hers. One mistake and everything Sophie and her friends stood for would disappear, one wrong choice and it everything would redo itself, all their hard work and planning was for nothing.

'You are their little puppet' Gethen's voice taunted her in her dreams, but it wasn't going to last long. Sophie would stop it, no matter what it might take, she'll make her own path, she'd already put enough lives in danger.

The solution was right there, it wasn't the best way but it was the only, she never played by the rules of the game but it was time that there were no rules at all. She was under no one, no one was under her, it was her and only her choice to make. She had it planned, she wasn't their puppet anymore, she never was. She took the only way that gave her answers. She needed them now more desperately than anything else.

She will find them and make knowledge her true, most powerful weapon ever. She won't give in to anyone, it was her legacy to live up to.

    • Chapter Five part one

      “You.”

There was ice in Grady’s tone, and in his eyes. Sophie didn’t know how Keefe could stand being looked at that way. Maybe he was used to it.

“You knew I was going to a party,” Sophie said, taking an unsteady step towards Grady.

      Wrong move.

“Oh. My. God.” There was disbelief mixed with fury in Grady’s tone, and hatred in his eyes. “You bring my daughter home long past any time anyone should be out of the house. And she’s drunk. She’s actually drunk.”

“Sir…” Keefe started, but Sophie could tell by his tone he knew he had no chance of winning this argument. It wasn’t fair. He was only helping her, and Grady hated him for it.

“Leave right now,” Grady said to Keefe, and his tone was so firm Keefe went and did it. Or maybe he Mesmerized Keefe. Sophie knew he wasn’t supposed to do that unless someone on their side was in danger, but Grady probably thought she was in danger from Keefe.

“Where’s Mom?” Sophie mumbled. She had been going to defend Keefe, but for some reason nothing came out.

Grady did not tell her where Edaline was. Instead, he turned on her, his eyes glittering like black diamonds. “You’ve lost my trust, Sophie. Go to your room.”

The world spun around and Sophie went and did it.

Second of all, to everyone who commented about Grady being harsh? Yeah, that's your opinion. I personally think he would be really mad if Sophie came home drunk. And if Keefe brought her home? Do you honestly think he'd be understanding? I'll try to write more this weekend.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah, he would not react well to Keefe bringing Sophie home drunk.

    • You guys, I can't write the story based off your every request. I get that not everything is the way you would picture it, but I'm a human being who has a life outside of this.

        Loading editor
    • I don’t think they’re trying to tailor it to their specific requests, but merely giving helpful advice. Critiquing is something many authors specifically request, so they’re just trying to give advice. Some of it I agree with, but overall your story is great and I could definitely see you writing a bestseller one day.

And just one suggestion, but maybe less parties and romance and more action and rescuing Tam? I just feel like all the problems with the Neverseen and Tam are more important than Sophie dealing with Fitz and Keefe. But still, great story!

You could be a bestselling author.

      One thing:

Shannon Messenger has her own style, and I guess I am more used to her style than yours. So, If i offend you, please know i never mean it, i am just giving friendly criticism.

Another thing: You and I may interpret KOTLC differently, so please don't take this offensively. I just don't think Biana would give Sophie alchohol (did i spell that right), and I also think Grady wouldn't be that mean. He will punish her and definitely be mad at Keefe, but he wouldn't be THAT mean.

Just a little critique, Please don't take offense to anything! Thank you.

“Well…”

      _________________________

      Super cool!

And even when Sophie was drunk all Biana cared about was having a good time. Biana could've been a better friend but you're the writing the story based on your feelings and interpretation of the characters. (OMG I sound so smart writing this.) “Can I come in?”

“Okay,” Sophie said feebly. She’d spent the last few hours vomiting into the toilet, and had finally gone back to her room. She was lying on her bed, window shades down. Open window shades and the early morning light streaming through them would just make her feel worse. Her head hurt and she kind of hated Biana.

Edaline entered the room, treading softly. “How are you feeling?” she asked Sophie.

      “I’ve been better,” Sophie mumbled.

Edaline sighed. “Is it true you came back with Keefe? Grady was... not pleased. You know how he feels about that boy.”

“It wasn’t Keefe’s fault. He was trying to help me.” Sophie frowned. She was half in the mood to sell out Biana, but she knew it wasn’t a good idea. “Are you mad?”

“Well… I’m a little bit disappointed in you, but no, not mad. Jolie used to go to parties too, you know. I don’t think Grady realizes.”

      Sophie frowned. “Am I grounded?”

Edaline nodded. “For a week. It’s a lot less of a punishment than Grady wanted, but… ”

      Sophie tried to smile. “Thanks.”

And that is all! I also have to start rereading the books because I don't remember anything about them, so I should probably get on that sometime soon...
