  • What do you guys predict what will happen in the 8th book

    • Um do ya really want my whole summary?

      If you really want it.....

      Overview:

      Title-- Legacy

Cover--Keefe, Sophie and Fitz (In that order) standing very close, with Sophie enhancing both of them, Fitz super close and like leaning into her and Sophie looking kinda nervously/scornfully? at him, but Keefe sorta standing out of the way, kinda symbolizing Fitz still wanting to be with Sophie but her questioning it, and then Keefe standing aside so Sophie can deal with everything herself and making her have the choice.  (You'll see... )

Here's generally what I think will happen:

The book starts out with Keefe or Dex talking to Sophie.  They'll have already learned about what happened with the match, and they'll be talking it over with her, or talking about something else so that Sophie doesn't have to bring that up (They know her super well--they'll know which she'll prefer).

She doesn't know how to tell Fitz about the match, because obviously he's too wrapped up in his awesomeness to notice anything about Sophie, so--SHOCKER--she doesn't tell him at all.  When he finally figures it out, he BLOWS UP at Sophie, ranting about why she should have told him. But at the same time, Fitz is hesitant about dating Sophie if it means constant scorn.  Between the anger issues and the hesitancy, Sophie realizes she deserves better than Fitz--but tries very hard to break up with with Fitz without hurting him.  She starts hanging out with Keefe more, because Dex is gone with Tinker, and they get to be really close friends--nothing more, because Keefe is keeping to his promise about only doing what she wanted.

Linh is going nuts about how Tam joined the Neverseen.  She knows it was necessary, but she still doesn't like it, and asks Sophie every night to reach out telepathically to him and ask him to come back.   He's convinced he's found the REAL caches, because as the new Shade they'll have to tell him stuff, like how to access the caches (which probably has to do with something like shadow-conjuring or something, and they might not trust him at first, but he probably is willing to "prove" himself--he's a lot more darkish and willing to do that than Keefe.  He finds the caches and during a battle, appears and gives the caches to the Black Swan, but Lady Gisela or someone hits him with a truly lethal sopordine dose. They get the caches, and Linh goes Scarlet Witch on the Neverseen (I don't know, sucks all the moisture out of five people/other sentient species' bodies and uses the water to drown five more people or something.  I don't know, sorry for the morbidness.)

Everyone gets back to safety (except Tam RIP) and hold a funeral.  Bronte and Tinker disappears with Dex working on making new weapons, and these *real* caches--which they know is real because they manage to find a Secret, and to fit my plot theory, it's an abandoned facility in the Forgotten Cities.  It's in the caches because it was originally created by the Ancient Council. Yes, the Council made a facility for testing humans because they were also--but blotted it out from their memories to take away the guilt. Vespera found it, but found it too "inelegant" and made Nightfall in Atlantis.  Anyway, I'm off on a history tangent. That was the Forgotten Secret. On with the plot.

They learn more about the nature of this facility in the Forgotten Cities--the Forgotten secret comes with a handy-dandy Wikipedia link about human experimentation facilities--and so when Keefe realizes what his mom had been planning, his

      Sanity

      SHATTERS

Naturally, Fitz tries to comfort Sophie, who's freaking out.  Fitz realizes how much of a bad friend he had been to Keefe and vows to make it right if he ever wakes up.  Sophie realizes she can save him, and immediately goes into Keefe's mind with Fitz watching what Sophie sees in Keefe's mind through their connection, she Enhances Fitz and he sends the energy back.  As she's searching for part of him, she sees a gold memory, and realizes just how much he cared about her, and how hard it must have been for him when Sophie and Fitz were kinda-dating. She gets ready to inflict positively, from her heart, and--surprisingly--it was much easier to heal him and convey how much she cares for him than she thought.  He comes back, and, between her getting to know him better from the "epic Fitzphie fail" and how easy it was to inflict love to him, and the gold memory, she is REALLY grateful that he's back. Nothing more than that happens because Keefe had already decided to take it slow. Later, when they're fighting, she leans a lot closer to him. Anyway, this is all the shipping stuff that happens for the rest of the book.

Climax: They're in the facility in the Forgotten Cities, fighting in Tam's memory (Tam is the first mjor character to die besides Forkle One) and to fight for equality and safety of humans.  They take over the hideout, but Lady Gisela and Ruy and Gethen get away. Fintan joins them and agrees to work with the newly formed and newly-recruiting Neverseen in order to get rid of the Black Swan.

Cliffhanger:  I'm not completely sure.  Maybe, all things considered, as they're escaping, they bring down the entire city with them.

    • ^^^Wow...................you put A LOT OF THOUGHT INTO THAT

      RESPECT

But if Tam dies in the next book....i don't even know if I'll finish the series. I might, out of obligation, but i wouldn't enjoy it as much. Maybe for Marella. seeing the words "Tam" and "die" in the same sentence just.....*shudders*

      TAM CAN'T DIE

But I really hope we don't just focus on Sophie/Fitz/Keefe love triangle. I want just one book where that's hardly mentioned, because everything's going great and we can focus on the other relationships (Fitz and Biana as siblings, Tam and Linh as siblings, Tiana, Lylie, etc). And maybe just some relaxing time because the Black Swan are actually ahead for once. I know that probably too much to hope for though...

    • This is exquisite! I agree with a lot of the plot, and I also guessed the title would be Legacy! My summary is:

_______________________ Sophie's powers are pushed to the limit in Legacy, the thrilling eighth book in the bestselling Keeper of the Lost Cities series. Sophie and her friends are unsure of who to trust. The Neverseen are holding captive one of their own—one bad move, and he's dead. The escaped baby trolls are wreaking havoc throughout the Lost Cities, and the Council wants to inspect the fake caches. Meanwhile, even Sophie's friends are fighting. The Lost Cities seem to be unraveling—what happens when you're the only one left? ______________________

      Chapter Three

      “Do you want to talk?”

Sophie looked up with a start. “Mom! When did you get here?”

Edaline stood in the doorway of her room, holding a plate piled with custard bursts and a glass of bright green lushberry juice. “You’ve been moody all day. Is it about the Unmatcheable thing?”

Sophie shrugged. Her first instinct was to deny it, but the custard bursts smelled like cherry and chocolate and goodness. And Edaline was Edaline. And there was a lump in Sophie’s throat, the kind of lump only a mom can remedy. And the lushberry juice was cold and sweet. And Sophie wanted to talk to Edaline, she really did.

“I don’t know what Fitz will do if he finds out,” Sophie said helplessly, looking at Edaline, who was suddenly on her bed next to her. She did not say ‘when he finds out’. She said ‘if he finds out’. A part of Sophie still thought it had to have been a mistake.

“If he doesn’t want to be with you once he knows what comes along, he’s not worth your time.” As always, Edaline was right. “You deserve to be with a boy who treats you right.”

“Or girl,” Sophie added, thinking about her time as a human. She still wasn’t sure if there were LGBTQ elves. If there were, no one seemed to care.

Edaline looked Sophie in the eyes. “You deserve someone who sees you for you.”

“Thanks, Mom.” Sophie didn’t know what she’d do without Edaline. “Where’s Dad?”

“Oh, Grady’s on T-Rex duty.” Edaline laughed. “Can I hug you?”

Sophie loved that Edaline was intuitive enough to ask her. “Yes. Yes, please.”

And so Edaline did, and for the first time in weeks, Sophie felt a little better.

Sophie chewed on her brattail. Even after all the years in the Lost Cities, the taste still made her think about sausage. She liked it when they served it at Foxfire.

“Apparently, there’s a party at Nevershore this weekend.” Biana was heavily made up, as usual, and her excitement was obvious. Sophie couldn’t remember whose estate Nevershore was, there were too many.

“A party? But… Tam… ” Sophie faltered, unsure of what to say. But Tam is with the Neverseen? But we need to get him out, not party?

Keefe rolled his eyes. “Live a little, Foster! Not only are we super awesome evil-fighting purveyors of awesomeness, we’re also teenagers. Teenagers party. It’s a thing.”

In all her Elvin years, Sophie had never been to a party like the one Biana was talking about. A party with kids and just kids. She’d been to formal events, sure. But… parties?

“You’re coming, right, Sophie?” Biana clasped her manicured hands together. “Please? I need another girl.”

“Am I invited?” Sophie asked awkwardly.

Biana laughed. “It’s not like that, Sophie. You just go, you don’t need an invitation.”

Sophie shook her head, confused. “I don’t get it.”

      Keefe laughed. “You wouldn’t.”

Keefe was sitting on the far end of the table, the farthest possible from Fitz. Sophie was positioned awkwardly in the middle, across from Biana. Dex wasn’t at Foxfire that day. He was probably out with Tinker.

“Okay, I guess I’ll go,” Sophie said hesitantly.

“Great!” Biana squealed. Her excitement gave Sophie a twisty feeling in her gut. What had she gotten herself into?

    • @Bookynerd, these are by no means spoilers.  They're simply theories for Legacy.  None of us are spoiling the book; nor are we claiming to.

In fact, the books are copyrighted, but that does not mean we can't write fanfictions.  In fact, there are tens of thousands of fanfictions worldwide, hardly any of which are illegal.  What the copyright does is prevent others from selling her works and making money off of her hard work and creativity.  These fanfictions are not claiming to be authentic Keeper of the Lost Cities books; they are just fan adaptations written for fun.

    • Great theories! Also, am I the only one who wants to see the Neverseen on a book cover. I mean we see them(can't remember who it was) on lodestar but I want to see more than and arm. But main characters I want/suspect to be on the cover are Sophie (of course), hopefully Dex, Marella, and likely Keefe. Hopefully not Keefe, as much as I love him, he has to many covers. Also, maybe Biana!
