  • I see you're semi-active on here now, so I just wanted to say hi since we never met. I'm Evelina!

      Loading editor
    • Hey---I'm Suldreen--Hi to you as well :) I really like your username. What was your favorite Sokeefe moment?

        Loading editor
    • Haha, yeah. Hmm, if you're referring to Legacy moments, probably when Keefe stayed up all night to make sure she was alright after her ability restoration. I probably should've asked you before, but have you read Legacy yet?

        Loading editor
    • Yep, I read it as soon as it came out :) (Well, actually a day late, because preordering hates me) I really loved that as well---I thought the ability restoration w/ the two choices was really powerful as well. Fitz wanted her to be safe, but that wasn't what she needed. And Keefe's support :)

        Loading editor
    • Oh, lucky. I got it three weeks late while others got it three weeks early. At least I didn't get on the wiki at that time, since there were soo many spoilers going around. Anyway, yeah, that was pretty sweet :) Also, Shannon Messenger got me a bit confused with the Tam/Biana and Dex/Biana thing. She hinted at Dexiana, but a few books back, she hinted at Bam, so now I just don't know what to expect. Oh, and did you notice how Shannon released Jensi art but he wasn't mentioned once? Was that just a random art reveal?

        Loading editor
    • I hoping for Dex and Biana rn, what about you? I really like Tam w/ Marella or alone....

I'm straining my mind to think of a time Jensi was mentioned but I can't seem to---I should probably do a reread. I think it was just her way of adding another unappreciated minor character to the set... Idk..I'm curious too now.

I mean she also did that Dex painting (though she said it wasn't in the books) just to 'satisfy' the fandom...I'm glad Dex did get a few more moments in this book, but it's still disappointing how invisible he's gotten.

        Loading editor
    • Actually, same. I don't even know who to pair Marella with anymore.

I feel like I read the book so long ago, I don't even remember anything minor. But as far as my knowledge goes, Jensi wasn't mentioned once. Neither was Alden! That's the real crime.

I think the whole "Dex on the cover 2020" got on her nerve, so she needed a way out without causing much of a riot. But I do agree; Dex, Biana, and Stina got a little more book-time. Now I have to wait a whole year to figure out who Glimmer is. Some say she's Tam's mother while others ship the two, and I don't even know where I fit into.

    • I bet Alden was off doing villanous things and meddling w/ Biana's love life instead of the main triangle...They kind of replaced the wise advice character, making Sophie more Oralie/others focused... She subconciously realized what I suspected (as a kind of out there theory) since Neverseen: Alden wants control/power over things. Just as he formed his fatherly connection after seeing Keefe in his weakened position and how he forced Biana into Sophie friendship. Idk...He's always seemed like a "well meant" meddler/manipulator to me...It runs in the family...Why do you think Alvar learned to shield thoughts in his family?

(sorry that turned into a nonsense rant...Thank you for reading that Brain mush)

        Loading editor
    • I had that exact same thought. Ever since the first book, when he's like, "Oh, of course I'll adopt you! Just get closer with my boy Fitz and you'll be perfect for each other!" No, Alden, that's not how you get what you want. You know what else? The night the Fitz and Sophie broke up, I'm wondering if Alden asked his son to figure out Sophie's parents or something. Maybe not exactly at that time, but before. Sure, Fitz might actually be interested in Sophie's happiness and match-making and yadda-yadda, but what if Alden has a plan for that too...? Then again, this is a middle-grade book, so I may just be overthinking this. Then again, you do have a very logical point...

        Loading editor
    • Alden...*sigh*....honestly Gisela should just take him up as an apprentice in manipulation... seriously ...

And you might have a point about Alden, Fitz and the parents thing. I doubt he would go out and ask Fitz to, but he probably instilled a lot of the matchmaking beliefs and pressure, making Fitz feel like it was essential to be officially matched with Sophie, hence unearthing her parents.

The Vackers really seem to have potential for badness. First Alvar with the Neverseen. Then Alden with his meddling. And don't get me started with Fitz and his I-Want-to-Stab-My-Brother vibes :)

      How are you recently?

        Loading editor
    • I'm just silently waiting for Shannon to make Alden a secret Neverseen spy. It's bound to happen sometime. Unless, of course, I'm way overthinking this.

Oh yeah, that seems like a much better way at manipulating someone... Instagram has a lot of evil Alden theories and I'm living for them, lol.

I wonder if another Vacker is potentially evil. Aren't there, like, dozens of them? There's no way that all of them are that perfect.

Eh, doing well. This whole coronavirus thing is making me anxious, but I'm living through it. Looking at the news, America is such a scary place to live right now. I have older family living in Florida, and... yikes. :( You?

        Loading editor
    • I hope she does that. But honestly, I don't see it coming... I'd like it too ... but sadly...

I feel like most of the evil Alden theories popped up after seeing how he treated Keefe. Like some sort of Don't-You-Dare-Talk-To-Keefe-Like-That retaliation.

Well....There are Luzia and Orem---They were involved with Vespera and Vacker Legacy nonsense. And many of them seem like suspicous snobs. I wonder what the deal with Fallon is.... Also, if their perfection comes from power, is the the power just corrupting all of them--Aren't most all of them endorcing the matchmaking system and upholding outdated harsh traditions?

Glad you're doing alright :) I've been trying a lot of hobbies to pass time recently. I made churros! I hope your family in FL is alright---I know my grandma in NY plans to break out of Quarantine if it goes on for longer than the next month....So, I'm pretty worried as well....I'm hoping she's joking...Also, I'm pretty sure the world is a scary place to live rn. Sorry. Not helping.

Weird subject change: Have you had strangely vivid dreams recently? Stress is supposed to do  that.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah, this is a middle-grade book. Then again, so is Percy Jackson, and that was pretty entertaining.

Oh yeah, I wonder why Shannon included that. I think that's why I'm holding onto my evil Alden theory. It had to have some sort of importance.

Hmm, I haven't read Keeper in a loooong while, so I barely remember their names. I did look at the Vacker page, and it listed 11 names (including Alvar), so unless Shannon just threw them out there, I'm hoping for them to hold some significance.

Ooh, I love churros! I'm trying to improve my baking skills, but, ah, it's not going too well. Uh oh, I hope she's joking too. New York is awful, and I can't comprehend the amount of damage Covid has done. 2020 is a crappy year. :(

Some days, yes. Whenever I remember them, they are very interesting. Not exactly lucid, but it feels like I'm silently observing them from third-person.

        Loading editor
    • How are your baking attempts going? I tried piping a pudding-whip-cream-fronsting-y-thing onto shortbread cookies today, and it kind of just....deflated. It was pretty sad. It was based on the Gray Stuff from Beauty and Beast (*crosses fingers* please say you've heard of it).

2020's just....Wonderful--I recently found out BookCon was cancelled and I was going as a Birthday gift this year--and now it's vanisheddd. It's just great. It's really sad how much is getting cancelled and delayed. Do you have any bk. recs to help me pass time?

That's cool--I usually just remember small vivid details if anything....One time I woke up thinking about trees :)

        Loading editor
    • I tried to bake bread and it failed. 😔 I did attempt to make cinnamon roles, and they actually came out kind of good, but the taste was just meh. Wait - did you make that swirly thingie from Beauty and the Beats? If so, I think I know what you're talking about!

Oh nooo, I'm so sorry! When's your birthday? I saw that BookCon was at the end of May, and that's when my birthday is, so I just wanted to know. Hmm, Scythe is amazing, and so is Shadow and Bone, Shatter Me (and the rest of the series), and anything by Marie Lu.

Haha, one time I recalled (and can still recall) an entire conversation I had with this random girl. It was... weird, to say the least.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah the gray swirly thing :) It tasted alright at least. Presentation wise it was a blob though. Cinnamon rolls are great--I think it's more the recipe you use for them than anything else though. I've seen some pretty weird ones online before I found a good recipe (Betty Crocker's, I think...)

I'm a taurus, so I'm not quite at the end of May--Our Birthdays are probably only a few weeks apart :) I think I may need to ask you for a few more book recs. I loved Scythe. Shadow and Bone was pretty good, but I preferred the sequel series Six of Crows and King of Scars. I've read (I think) everything by Marie Lu, and the first of the Shatter Me series (I'll put a hold on the online library for the rest-Thanks). You basically used my books-I-reccommend-list on me :) Who's your favorite character out of all of these books? And any more recs?

Huh--That's a kind of cool dream--I woke up this morning knowing I had a dream where Universal (the company) was some secretly evil organization and not remembering anything else. It was weird to say the least :)

        Loading editor
    • Ah, cool. I really want to try to bake something, but I'm so afraid of wasting ingredients.

Ohh, ok. Ooh, I had a WHOLE Word document of book recs; I should probably go find it. I think we have the same taste in books, lol. For Scythe, I loved Scythe Curie (:() and Citra. This may seem weird, but the Darkling was honestly my favourite character in Shadow & Bone. No clue why. Ooh, or Zoya. Apparently I like problematic characters. Day, obviously, for Legend, and I don't really know for Shatter Me. I guess I liked all of them.

Woah, interesting. I feel like I had a dream last night but I can't remember it...

        Loading editor
    • This sounds so ridicuously cheesy I can't believe I'm saying it but "If you learn from it, it's not wasted" :) I guess it's true so that redeems it a bit at least.

FIND ME THAT WORD DOCUMENT! I'M DESPERATE! PLEASE! Citra was my favorite character probably....I really liked the dynamic between her and Rowan--And for some reason I like Scythe Rand and I have absolutely no idea why. Something about her "I'm cruel and troubled don't mess with me" vibes maybe. I'm not sure if you read the sequels but it turns out she does have a soul. Darkling as a favorite's not weird honestly--Do you ship him with Alina though? I'm not really a Darklina fan honestly. No offense if that's your ship...Problematic characters are the best :) Typical heroes are too--well-typical. Did you read King of Scar or Six of Crows--KOS is so Zoya-centric that a lot of fans complain but I love it.

I know I had a dream last night too--I should write them down when I get up. I am literally a professional at forgetting them.

        Loading editor
    • Ooh, that should be my new motto.

I FOUND THE DOCUMENT! It's much shorter than I expected though...

      Scythe series

      Maze Runner series

Percy Jackson (and all of Rick Riordan's books) series

      Grishaverse series

      Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom

      King Of Scars

      Legend series

      The Young Elites series

      Hunger Games

      Red Queen

      Divergent series

      Lunar Chronicles series

      Three Black Swans

      We Were Liars

      The Book Thief

      Children Of Blood And Bone

Well, at least that's short in my definition, haha. I don't ship Darklina at all, but I appreciate him as a character. He's very dynamic. I like it. I have read Six of Crows, but not King of Scar. I really want to though.

Ooh, that's a good idea. I've heard of dream journals before, and I've also heard those help you lucid dream more often. I should try it sometime.

        Loading editor
    • Short is good--I knew someone w/ a TBR list that (no kidding) took me over 30 seconds to scroll through--It had to have been 3 miles long :)

Let's see: (I'll bold the ones I read)

      Scythe series

      Maze Runner series

Percy Jackson (and all of Rick Riordan's books) series

      Grishaverse series

      Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom

      King Of Scars

      Legend series

      The Young Elites series

      Hunger Games

Red Queen -(Technically only the first one...Weird story: A person I met at a camp had the author's mom as their English Teacher. Apparently she recently retired. Idk.)

      Divergent series

      Lunar Chronicles series

      Three Black Swans

      We Were Liars

      The Book Thief

      Children Of Blood And Bone

You really have good taste in books :) :) :) I'll add those books to my online library holds--Thanks :) I think 75% of them is pretty good...

I recently reread the short story about the Darkling (The Demon in the Wood) and it's really good. Do you have an Overdrive or any other digital library account? Also, have you read the Michael Vey series? It kind of fits with your recs....

        Loading editor
    • Yeah, those are some of my favourites. I'll have to think of others.

Hmm, I don't think I've read any short stories of hers. I'll check it out. No, I don't have Overdrive. Is it free? And I've had Michael Vey on my "authors-to-read" list, but I haven't gotten to him yet. Is his style good?

        Loading editor
    • Overdrive is free (the app is called Libby) and it still does have wait times, but it works really well. You have to use your regular library card though. I tried out some random other sites though too. If you live in NY/have an NY card you can get access to a lot of books via the NY Public Library App and regardless of where you live (as long as you pretend to live in MA) you can get aBoston Public Library digital card. Idk...

Richard Paul Evans is a pretty good author--Michael Vey was the series I followed obsessively before Kotlc and others. I discovered it when I was surprisingly little before I even read Percy Jackson or Harry Potter. It is one of the classics for me :)
