Okay, here's the start of a Sokeefe story. It starts after Sophie get's home from the matchmakers. Hope ya'll enjoy! (And Sofitz fans might enjoy it too):
“Unmatchable,” Sophie whispered. She pulled her legs toward her chest and hugged them, not caring that she was putting her shoes on her bed. What was she going to do? What would Fitz think? He had said that there was no way they couldn’t be matched, but that dream was one that wouldn’t soar. Not now, and not ever.
A knock came at her door. “Sophie? It’s Edaline. Do you want to talk about it?”
“I-I need to be alone,” Sophie replied, her voice cracking.
“Are you sure?” Edaline asked gently, her voice drifting to Sophie like a calming breeze.
“Yes.”
“Okay, I’ll bring you up some dinner later,” Edaline said.
Sophie waited until her footsteps disappeared before she returned to her sobs. Things were hard enough fighting the Neverseen, and finding out Fitz actually liked her and felt the same way she did about him had encouraged her, but now she just wanted to deflate like a balloon.
She sobbed for hours, until she didn’t have tears to cry. And then the telepathic call came.
Sophie?
She jumped in shock. Fitz? Quickly she dried away her tears, shoving back the thoughts of matchmaking.
Hey, do you want to go see the baby alicorns? Wylie is trying to cheer Linh up by showing her them, and we thought she’d be happier if you came.
Sophie wanted to go. Linh had been through a lot after losing Tam to the Neverseen. She deserved to be upset, not Sophie. But… Fitz was there. And if she saw Fitz, he might notice she was upset, and he would ask why, and-
Wait, what? Sophie, what happened?
Uh oh. She had to think fast. Sorry Fitz, I can’t come. Tell Linh I said hi. It was hard to hide the emotion from her thoughts.
Don’t- he began, but Sophie didn’t let him finish. She blocked him before he could say anything else. The desperation in his voice sent a round of guilt through her. But she couldn’t explain it to him. Not yet.
