Chapter One
--Remi--
Welp, it was time. The day she'd both been dreading and longing for. It was here.
Remi nervously played with her fingers. The family reunion would be...
Interesting.
Even though Ever, Jacob, and Arquis weren't technically her relattives, they'd be there. And then there would be Calla and Kenric, Uncle Fitz's twins.
"I'm ready!"
Remi's mom flounced into the room. Her dark brown hair was up in a fancy bun, and there was scarcely room for fabric with all the diamonds on her dress.
Meanwhile, Remi's curly golden brown hair lay lamely in a messed up braid. She wasn't even wearing a dress.
"Dex! Get out here!" Biana, Remi's mom, just HAD to shout. Remi cupped her hands over her ears.
"I'm here." Remi's father slid down a pole into the main room.
He pulled out a shinig crystal and they all stepped into the light.
Chapter Two
--Jacob--
He walked into the room.
His hair was styled and perfect, but like his father's it was also slightly messed up.
Jacob had gone to great lenghts when preparing for this.
Sure, he'd seen everyone like a million times before. But today, they could actually hang out.
Not 'hang out' for like five minutes between classes at foxfire.
Jacob grabbed a plateful of mallowmalt and rushed over to Remi.
"Hey " he said, feeling slightly awkward.
"Hey," Remi said.
Not really knowing what to say, he put out his fist.
They preformed the fist bump-high five-up-down-cross handshake ritual they had come up with in their first level. Remi and Jake had been best friends forever.
"Guys! Get over here! We're playing truth or dare!" Kenric shouted.
Chapter Three
--Calla--
Calla didn't know what was better- the expression on Jacob's face when he had to play truth or dare, or the fact she'd finally get to make him admit his crush on Remi. Calla was a telepath, and she was SO going to pick truth.
