So, basically, the elves have decided to go ahead with the whole Human Sanctuary idea. They knew it would be impossible to willingly get them to live there, so the Council made a new plan involving sedatives. Happy reading! This is my first fanfic, and if you could leave advice and things it would really help! This has a few POV’s, but the actual chapters are only from one person’s perspective.
If you like this, please give it Kudos! Thanks!
CHAPTER ONE
“You ready for dinner, Courtney?” My mom asked me from the kitchen. “Yeah!” I yelled, coming downstairs. My dad was in the dining room, having just come home from work. TJ, my older brother by a few years, was setting out the silverware. I slid into my seat. Yes! I thought. Spaghetti and meatballs! My favorite! After my mom said grace, we started eating. “How was work?” My mom asked my dad. He shrugged. “Lots of meetings. The management has decided to…” I let my mind wander as they talked. I thought about my missing library book. I wondered when TJ would start Driver’s Ed. I thought about the newspaper, and that one article that - what was that article about? It suddenly became hard to think. An overwhelming tiredness washed over me. TJ dropped his fork and it clattered against his plate, making it clear that he was experiencing the same thing. “What’s ha-”
Everything went black.
I woke up, expecting to be slumped over in my dining room chair with concerned family members surrounding me. Instead, I was on some sort of bean bag chair. I broke out in a cold sweat when I saw my unconscious family around me. We were in a fairly large room, with dark blue curtains pulled over the windows and soft white carpets on the floor. Still, no matter how cozy it looked, I had no recollection of what this place was or how I had gotten there. It reminded me of the horror movies I was always too scared to watch. I remembered the haze I had been in right before I blacked out. Had I been drugged?! I hugged my knees to my chest, expecting something to jump out at me with every passing second. When nothing did in the first minute, I relaxed a little. But not a lot.
Soon TJ woke up. “WHAT THE HECK?” Was the first thing he said. Well, the first thing he yelled. He sprang to his feet, then noticed me. “Oh my gosh… Court, what happened?!”
“I don’t know!” I said, sounding more panicked than I wanted to.
He started to pace. “We have to get out of here.” Well, that’s obvious. I tried opening the door, but it was locked. “What do we do?” My dad stirred and put his head in his hands, groaning. When he glanced up, he looked ready to have a heart attack. I rushed over to him. “Dad! DAD!” He shakily stood, paling when he saw his surroundings. “What…” When he saw mom, he fell to his knees, gently shaking her awake. A few moments later she opened her eyes. “Brandon… where are we?” She whispered. TJ was leaning against a wall. “We don’t know. Do you recognize anything about this place?” She shook her head. “No, I don’t. What are we going to do?!” A noise that sounded too melodical and cheerful, like a soothing wind chime from the left wall got our attention. “Hello!” A voice said. A large, thin screen was mounted on the wall. An astonishingly pretty woman was on it, smiling brightly. Wait.
Were her ears… pointed?!
“You may be wondering where you are.” She continued. TJ stalked closer to the screen. “Um, yeah. Let us out, creepy lady!” Her smile faltered. “Sorry if this… situation alarmed you. We hadn’t found a good way to introduce the new law to you.” Hundreds of thoughts crashed into my brain. What kind of law involves drugging people and dragging them off into some unknown area? And who is ‘We?’ “What new law?” My dad demands.
“Transferring all humans to a Sanctuary. Effective immediately.”
