Quicksnuff is a powder that elves use to put out fires quickly. It is not effective on the famed Everblaze, which needs the much more powerful frissyn, to be extinguished. It is only mentioned a few times in the books, but most elves use it to extinguish all fires except Everblaze. At the time of the first book, Alvar mentions that ogres have not figured out to make quicksnuff. Later, in Nightfall it is mentioned that Marella has a concentrated form of quicknuff made by Kesler Dizznee to be used for emergencies.
