The Planting of the Wanderlings is when elves plant a seed to symbolize a deceased one of their kind. They wrap a strand of the deceased elf's hair (DNA) around the seed and plant it. The hair then grows with the seedling and becomes a tree (which the elves call Wanderlings) with some of the passed elf's traits. Elves prefer to wear the color green (the color of life) instead of black when going to a seed planting. Plantings are the elves' version of a funeral. While deaths of the Elvin kind have been mentioned as rare, it is not impossible. Elves have yet to find out if they can die of old age.
