Noxflares are a type of fire-resistant flower, which were first introduced in Stellarlune by Fintan Pyren in Kenric's cache.
They are said to be made by the Ancient Council in order to show the other intelligent species that they were capable of doing any task and it was used as a show of power.

In Stellarlune, they were first brought up in Councillor Kenric's cache (forgotten secrets) located in Fintan's garden where they bloomed plentiful.
During the memory, Fintan kept murmuring about "[The noxflares] not being right" while adding different types of fire to the flower. He was elated that the noxflares bloomed due to that fact that they take multiple centuries to grow. The noxflares blooming was described by Kenric as a sight to behold.
Later in the book, Marella Redek bribed Fintan with a noxflare in order to gain a memory from his cache. It ended up working with Fintan showing her a memory which involved Fintan setting noxflares on fire the same way he did it in Kenric's memory and also muttering "something's missing".
The flowers have an important connection to Elysian and were a part of Vespera's illusion - which led to Marella attempting to burn them to shatter the illusion.
