Murcats are an aquatic feline species that resemble small kittens. They're completely covered with purple-blue scales and have very sharp venomous fangs.
In Nightfall, Linh decides to purchase one at Claws, Wings, Horns, and Things as a disguise for checking to see if they had found the original Nightfall. It was also because of a bet between her and Tam from earlier when Tam, Linh, Fitz, Sophie, Grizel, Sandor were looking through Keefe's stuff. Whoever found the most important information owed the other team a favor. It was boys against girls, and the girls won, so Linh made Tam let her buy a pet.
It was later remarked by her that even though murcats may cause immense injury (like losing a few fingers), though once they are trained they can be really sweet according to Linh, though this has not been confirmed.
