Murcats are an aquatic feline species that resemble small kittens. They're completely covered with purple-blue scales and have very sharp venomous fangs.
In Nightfall, Linh Song decides to purchase one at Claws, Wings, Horns, and Things as a disguise for checking to see if they had found the original Nightfall. It was also because of a bet between her and Tam from earlier when Tam, Linh, Fitz, Sophie, Grizel, Sandor were looking through Keefe's stuff. Whoever found the most important information owed the other team a favor. The winning of the contest was the girl team, causing Tam to owe Linh a favor that ended up being the purchase of a murcat, Princess Purryfins.
Linh said that even though murcats may cause immense injury (like losing a few fingers), once they are trained, they can be really sweet, though this has not yet been confirmed.
