Hey, I'm Gildie, and this is my message wall! (you probably know that but whatever lol) Anyway, I'm a mentor here, and if you need to ask me anything regarding the wiki, life, or whether or not armadillos should be considered mammals (or maybe you just want to chat. That's much more likely. :)) please feel free to send me a message!

  • You mentioned the Book thief in a comment so I come to you to talk about it even if I haven't read it in a year because I'm still emotionally scarred.

    who is your favorite character?

    • Ooh yeah, Liesel was a really good main character -- all her actions seemed really realistic and I always loved reading about her. Also, idk if this counts, but Death was personified so well and the dry comic relief and the way he narrated the story REALLY brought it together, so as weird as it sounds, he might also be one of my favorite characters as well lol. I actually have two friends who read The Book Thief, since we all decided to read it for a history assignment (we had to read a historical fiction book and write a report on it). Both of them loved it as well!

I actually haven't read LOTR in at least 3 years, so idk if my favorite characters would be the same if I re-read it -- I think I read it when I was 10 or 11, so I'll definitely have to read it again sometime. I specifically remembered liking Frodo a lot though, so that's why I added him to the list lol. I LOVE Sam though, he seems like such a devoted companion and an amazing person -- his character was developed really well :D

    • I love how Death narrated it! The story-telling and the style of writing was amazing. I loved how Death would give a sort of summary at the beginning. Summary isn't quite the word I'm looking for. It was just an amazingly written book. It had everything a good book needed. Including pictures XD

Sam is one of my favorites. I also love the innocence of Merry and Pippin. Tolkein develops his characters in amazing ways. Throughout the journey you can see Frodo changing. But it's never actually said. It's just really good.

  • Not sure if you remember me or not, I haven't been here in forever. But I just wanted to say hi, how've you been doing?

    • Omg hi Nia! Of course I remember you :D

I'm doing okay, although incredibly bored at home and at this point I'm just waiting for people to stop traveling so we can finally get rid of this virus... it's terrible that so many people don't seem to understand how important that is :/ How are you?

        Loading editor
    • I'm also very very bored, I just want to see all my friends... but yeah, we're all staying home. Flattening that curve. I agree, some people don't get that even if they aren't at risk for the virus, they're harming a lot of other people by not social distancing.

Other than being quarentined, though, I'm doing pretty well.

  • Hi! I'm a HUGE fan of KotLC and LotR! I was just wondering if you think that after most elves went to Valinor, the few that stayed eventually found their way to the Lost Cities and became the Ancients? And in that case they have gained powers by one of the Valar to help them on their journy? My evidence for this theory is mostly the fact that Bronte looks like a Noldor elf XD

    • Hi! Sorry this is so late, Fandom was loading really slowly for some reason for the past few days :/

Anyway that's awesome, me too!! :D And I honestly love that theory lol -- the Lost Cities elves do have a lot of similarities to the LOTR elves! I've also occasionally thought about how similar the orcs are to the ogres -- although that would imply that a smaller branch of the migrant elves would've somehow been tortured by Melkor to create the ogres, and while that would add an interesting aspect to the plot, I'm not really sure how that would've happened. It's still super fun to think about theories like that though lol

        Loading editor
    • Oooh! That would be really cool! It makes a lot of sense! I just now realised that the ogres do like like orcs a lot!
