A Mercadir is an ogre military designation. King Dimitar's army has no ranks, all soldiers answer directly to him, but he holds a small group accountable for ensuring his orders are carried out, and those soldiers are his Mercadirs. He claims doesn't give the title to elves, except when he gave it to Keefe in Nightfall.
Mercadir Salute
Instead of bowing to King Dimitar, Mercadirs salute by sweeping an arm from their nose to their chest in a zigzag motion.
Punishment
If a Mercadir fails their assignment they are punished with the shamkniv, a dagger with a serrated knife. When one has been a serious disappointment, the shamkniv is dipped in flesh-eating bacteria.
