A Keeper of the Lost Cities live-action film adaptation was confirmed on January 11, 2021, with an article from Deadline[1], as well as Shannon Messenger's Instagram[2] and Twitter[3] accounts. As of 2024, no details have been confirmed regarding casting or a potential release date.
Originally, it was set to be produced by Pearl Street Productions and Walt Disney Pictures,[4] but a new article from Deadline on April 18, 2024 said that Warner Bros Productions had acquired the rights. The same article said Shannon Messenger would be the Executive Producer, instead of Madison Ainley, and Emma Watts the producer.[5]
Ben Affleck was originally set to direct and Kate Gritmon to write the script. It's currently unknown if they are still involved.

As of 2024, no details have been confirmed regarding casting or a potential release date.
Development
As of January 2021, the movie was in very early development stages, and the directors had not yet held auditions, cast actors for the roles, or built sets. Whether the movie goes into production was still an "if."[2] In January 2024, Messenger confirmed it was still in the "early stages." She added, "Emma Watts has been a *dream* to work with. We seriously could not have a more passionate, dedicated, enthusiastic producer on our side."[6]
During the B&N Stellarlune Virtual event with James Ponti, Shannon stated that Hollywood in general is a very slow industry and she's not really allowed to talk about it (the movie). Stuff is going on behind the scenes and everyone on the team for the movie is committed. She also states that "Keeper is not a cheap, low-budget kind of thing. We're looking at a movie that would be hundreds of millions of dollars, and that is not something that happens super quick."[7]
