This article is about the live-action adaptation of the series. You may be looking for Book 1: Keeper of the Lost Cities, the first book in the series, or Keeper of the Lost Cities, the series written by Shannon Messenger.

A Keeper of the Lost Cities live-action film adaptation was confirmed on January 11, 2021, with both an article from Deadline[4], as well as through Shannon Messenger's Instagram[5] and Twitter[6] accounts. It’s deadline is around 2023.

The script will be written by Kate Gritmon and Ben Affleck, with the film directed by the latter. Madison Ainley will be the executive producer.

Plot[]

A twelve year-old telepathic girl named Sophie must figure out why she is the key to her brand-new world before the wrong person finds the answer first.

Development[]

The movie is currently in very early development stages, and not much is known about it, though we do know that the script is currently being written. They have not yet held auditions, cast actors, or built sets, and whether the movie goes into production is still an "if."[5]

Cast[]

The cast for the KOTLC movie has not yet been decided, despite the numerous ‘cast revealed’ videos out there. The auditions will likely not be held for newcomers. The script is still being made, and whether or not the movie takes off is still an "if".

Extra Info[]

Ben Affleck and Kate Gritmon have read the entire series, and Messenger notes that Affleck has a very good understanding of it.[5] Messenger also noted that she has no say at all in casting and auditions, but will continue to keep her fans updated on any developments further on.
