Gildie is a female Flareadon who lives at Havenfield. She is eagle-sized with gold fur and gold eyes. When Gildie first arrived at Havenfield in the first book, Grady and Edaline thought she was a pterodactyl. When Sophie read her mind telepathically, however, she realized Gildie needed fire to survive, so she helped Gildie, but her parents got angry and insisted Sophie to go to her bed. It was speculated later that the Black Swan sent Gildie to Sophie purposefully so that she could collect the Everblaze that was burning in the Forbidden Cities.
Sophie was given a gold Flareadon Prattles pin, made by lumenite, by the Black Swan as a clue to use Gildie to catch the Everblaze.
