Frosters are elves with the ability of cryokinesis. They are able to manipulate ice particles in the air in order to freeze, create snowfall, and form any shapes made of ice they desire.

In Keeper of the Lost Cities, Dex and Marella were tested for this ability at Foxfire by being put in an extremely hot oven for the whole period.

Some Frosters can also cover themselves with ice as a disguise, as seen in Neverseen and books afterwards with Squall's disguise. Dex describes frosting as a useless ability, despite the fact that his mother is a Froster. Squall is later revealed to be his mother, Juline Dizznee.
