The Foster family is the human family that raised Sophie Foster. The family believed that Sophie was their biological daughter and did not know that she was an elf or a Telepath. The Elves had initially planned to fake Sophie's death, allowing them to move her from her home in San Diego to the elvin world, but Sophie begged Alden to have the washers wipe their memories instead, as she didn't want them to live with the pain of thinking their daughter was dead.
In Book 1: Keeper of the Lost Cities, Sophie watches her family (with new names) with her illegal Spyball that was given to her by the Black Swan. She especially watches them when an arson attack is launched on their city, and they are evacuated at a fire shelter.
Unfortunately, in the 6th book, Nightfall, her parents, William/Connor and Emma/Kate, were abducted by the Neverseen for experimentation. They sustained brutal wounds on the surface of their skin, as well as mental trauma. Their memories were wiped by Damel Kafuta and Sophie so they would not remember about Sophie and the Elves. However, her sister, Amy (Natalie), was allowed to keep her memories.
Their family crest is three hands reaching for each other. Sophie believes that it's only three hands because Sophie is not (biologically) part of their family, and cries when she knows she isn't. Livvy was the one who made this family crest, during Amy's time in the Lost Cities.

Marty is the family's fluffy gray cat, who Sophie had loved dearly before she left. She got to see him again in Nightfall. Later, it is revealed that she found him when he was a stray cat and then later adopted him.
- Watson
Watson is the family's beagle dog that they only got when Sophie had left and they had moved to a place with a bigger backyard. When Sophie lived with her family, they were not able to get a dog but always wanted to. In the first book, Sophie asked Alden to get them a dog and to make sure their house had a large backyard after the washers.
- Amy Rose Foster (aka Natalie Freeman)
