The Foster family is the human family that raised Sophie Foster. The family believed that Sophie was their biological daughter, and did not know that she was an elf or a Telepath. The Elves had planned to fake Sophie's death, allowing them to move her to the elven world, but Sophie begged Alden to have the washers wipe their memories instead, as she didn't want them to live with the pain of thinking their daughter was dead.

In Book 1: Keeper of the Lost Cities, Sophie watches her family (with new names) with her illegal Spyball, given to her by the Black Swan.

Unfortunately, her parents, William/Connor and Emma/Kate, were abducted by the Neverseen for experimentation. They sustained brutal wounds on the surface of their skin, as well as mental trauma. Their memories were wiped by Damel Kafuta and Sophie so they would not remember about Sophie and The Elves. Her sister, Amy (Natalie), was allowed to keep her memories.

Their family crest is three hands reaching for each other. Sophie believes that it's only three hands because Sophie is not (biologically) part of their family.

Members

William David Foster (aka Connor Freeman)

Sophie's dad became Connor Freeman after the elves erased his memories. He was kidnapped by the Neverseen in Lodestar. He invented Sophie's nickname, 'Soybean'.

Marty

Marty is the family's fluffy gray cat, who Sophie had loved dearly before she left. She got to see him again in Nightfall. Later, it is revealed that she found him when he was a stray cat and then later adopted him.

Watson

Watson is the family's beagle dog that they only got when Sophie had left and they had moved to a place with a bigger backyard. When Sophie lived with her family they were not able to get a dog but always wanted to. In the first book, Sophie asked Alden to get them a dog and to make sure their house had a large backyard after the washers.

Amy Rose Foster (aka Natalie Freeman)

Amy is Sophie's little sister, who becomes Natalie Freeman when the elves wash her memory and relocate her. At the end of Lodestar, Sophie goes with Fitz and Keefe to see Amy. During Nightfall, they bring her to the Lost Cities until her parents are found. While she stayed at the Lost Cities, she rode Silveny and ate traditional elvin treats. Soon, Amy (Natalie) had to go back but was allowed to keep her memories of Sophie. She did not want to forget her sister, who she loved, and all the amazing things she had witnessed and experienced in the Lost Cities.

Emma Iris Foster (aka Kate Freeman)

Sophie's mother becomes Kate Freeman after the elves wash her memory. She was kidnapped by the Neverseen in Nightfall. When her memories are being erased, Sophie told her that she loved her and Sophie's mother remembers her, saying "I love you too, Sophie."

Other Identities

Mr. William David Foster, Mrs. Emma Iris Foster, and Amy become Connor, Kate, and Natalie Freeman when the Elves wash their memories of Sophie. Sophie could watch them with her illegal Spyball; however, she cannot do so anymore because she doesn't know their new set of identities, which they were given after they were relocated a second time at the end of Nightfall.
