Flareadons are eagle-sized pterodactyl-like creatures. They are gold with fire-resistant fur and are fairly uncommon. Flareadons usually live near volcanoes, as they require fire to maintain a normal body temperature. What elves would consider a normal temperature would be deadly to a flareadon. This creature is part of the gorgodon hybrid used by Lady Gisela to guard Nightfall.

Gildie is a female flareadon who lives at Havenfield. Gildie arrived at Havenfield in Keeper of the Lost Cities, surrounded in flames by Sophie. It was discovered that the Black Swan most likely led her there for Sophie to find, and to later get help from to bottle Everblaze in book 1. Her feathers were left scorched but later healed.
