Durand Redek is the father of Marella Redek and the husband of Caprise Redek. He is a Guster as mentioned in book one, by Marella. Not much else is known about him. He took care of his wife, Caprise, after her accident, and helped Marella when she manifested as a Pyrokinetic, building her a special fire-proof area in Fluttermont so that she could train her ability.
Identity Theories[]
Some fans believe him to be Trix as he is one of the only known Gusters so far. The fact that the council has neglected his wife could be a reason he became bitter and joined the Neverseen. This could also be a reason as to why Marella knows all sorts of things before everyone, including things about the Neverseen. She very well could have heard him talking about it or snuck into his office or something. Nothing is confirmed but Durand Redek isn't, however, a very likely identity for Trix, given what we know of Trix, his youth and his love for Umber.
Personality[]
- Caring - It has been shown he is caring, as he built Marella a special fire proof area (complete with flareadon-fur bean bags and a firepit) when she manifested as a Pyrokinetic, instead of reporting her to the council. He also took care of Caprise Redek (his wife) after she suffered (present suffering) a terrible injury.
- Strong Willed - As said before, he has taken care of his family even in the hardest of times, never giving up even when it seemed hopeless. He always saw his goals through to the end.
Relationships[]
Marella Adene Redek[]
Marella is his daughter. He is shown to be very supporting and caring after building a fireproof area in his house for her to practice with.
Caprise Redek[]
Caprise is his wife. Not much of their relationship is known.
Elwin Heslege[]
It can be inferred that he and Elwin have a relationship, as [Elwin often helps his wife.

- Durand means "firm" and/or "enduring", in Latin.
- Redek means "glory" in Polish.
