Dame Alina (now Councillor Alina) was the former principal of Foxfire, who read announcements during orientation. She has porcelain skin, fragile features, and caramel-colored hair. She was chosen to replace Kenric after his death. She is a Beguiler. She went to Alden and Della Vacker's wedding and tried to convince Alden to marry her instead. He said no.
From Principal to Councillor
Dame Alina started out as principal of Foxfire. But when Sophie Foster attempts to heal Fintan's mind in Eternalia by orders from the Council, that all changes. Fintan uses Sophie Foster and others' body heat to spark Everblaze, the white-hot, unstoppable fire. Both Fintan and Councillor Kenric, who was present for the event, were consumed in the fire, along with the melting, jewelled Eternalia, leaving a grieving council and nation. Oralie, Kenric's love interest, was left sobbing for the one she, as a Councillor, was forbidden to love because of the rules. They could only share a deep, secret love. Later, at Sophie's tribunal/punishment for reading the King Dimitar's mind, Dame Alina was made Councillor and Master Leto is made principal and is changed to Magnate Leto. Councillor Alina fits quite well into her new job, acting as if she had been a councillor for several decades instead of only a few minutes. She is quick to show her opinion and be in charge and let everyone know it. In the beginning, she was Sophie's supporter, but near the end, she takes part in restricting Sophie's ability, causing an uprise in Sophie's world, but in the end, she plays a significant role in Sophie Foster's life and in The Keeper of the Lost Cities.

Relationships
Alina has a crush on Alden, but Alden doesn't return her feelings. In fact, he is "slightly" terrified of her. She attempted to stop the wedding between him and Della, but obviously, she did not suceed.
