On May 22nd, 2020, Shannon Messenger announced that there will be a ninth book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series.
It has been scheduled to release on November 8, 2022.[1] The previous book, Unlocked, was released on November 17, 2020.[2]
It will most likely include a short story, as three past books (Nightfall, Flashback, and Legacy) (Unlocked is currently scheduled to have a short story in the paperback edition as well, therefore making the total amount four) have, but it has yet to be confirmed. Shannon somewhat confirms in an interview that both of Sophie's biological parents would be revealed by the tenth book, if there is one. Shannon's contract was to end at the end of the ninth book, but she hinted at getting it renewed.
