Prologue
Sophie’s breath sped as they arrived. Every moment she’d ever been determined enough to try had been leading up to this. One bad step could ruin everything she’d worked towards.
She held her breath as she rose. The wind whipped her hair and cape back as she gripped the only two steady things in her life, not even fully sure that they were steady. But she held fast to the hope that they were.
Her vision tunneled as the wind grew stronger and she pinpointed her target. The light flashed, rippling through her as she unraveled. All she could do now is hope it was enough to save what was holding her up.
