Okay so this is my first fan fic, and piece of creative writing that people are going to read. So bear with me if there’s mistakes! But overall this is me taking advantage of the fact Keefe hasn’t confessed yet soooo ya. Also FYI I’m not on any specific team and just having fun :) Thank you! And here we go:

Sophie plopped next to Keefe on the grass, who didn’t avert his gaze from the vast horizon that was ahead of them. The ocean at everdine was calming, with the breeze gently wisking strands of Sophies hair behind her. “How are you feeling?” Sophie asked Keefe, who had noticeably been deeply in thought about something before his attention shifted to her.
Keefe managed to smile, but it came more as a grimace. “I’m doing awesome, after my mom basically forced her legacy on me to give me this life changing power... And totally Fostered the process.” He tried to make it a joke, but the words sounded genuine as they left a new felt hurt in Sophie.
“Is that why you happen to be here? Staring off into the distance?” She intertwined her fingers in his. “If so... We can try to take your mind off it, remember how we flew with Silveny and Greyfell? We can do that right now.” Sophie started to get up but Keefe tightened his grip on her hand refusing to let her go. “Wait!” He blurted out. “Just... Stay with me... for a little longer?” His face reddened as he dropped her hand. “Sorry, I just... Want to talk.” Sophie studied his face which seemed to genuinely say that Keefe just wanted to spend time together.
“Okay.” She sat back down. “Well... What do you want to talk about?” Keefe shrugged, “I don’t know... How are you and Fitz doing? You guys aren’t hanging out as much as you used to.” Sophie had hoped he wouldn’t ask that remembering their most recent fight. “Fitz has been... Complicated. He’s still hoping that I would find out who may biological father was now that I already know who my mom is...” “Councilor Oralle?” Keefe guessed? “What? It’s a little obvious.” He said when he noticed Sophie squirming. And he managed to laugh when she hissed, “ Don’t tell anyone.”
“But seriously, why do you let what Fitz wants bother you so much?” He asked. “It’s not like he can control your life... You are way more powerful than him.” Sophie tried to ignore that there was truthfulness to his words. “I... Don’t know actually.” She glanced over at him noticing he was fidgeting with the clasp on his cape. “Okay... What’s actually bothering you?” She asked him while grabbing his hand trying to be subtle. “It’s the same thing that I had told you.” He tried to reassure her, but she noticed something. His heart had skipped three beats. “You’re lying...” Sophie told Keefe who flinched at her gaze. “I’ve been trustful to you for as long as I can remember, and I deserve to know the truth from you... So tell me what’s actually on your mind.” He shook his head. “I can’t tell you. Not until...” He trailed off, glancing over his shoulder. “Can you do me a favor?” Sophie looked at him. “Anything.” Keefe met her gaze. “Enhance me.” “I don’t know how that would help but... If you insist.” She took off her gloves and offered him both of her hands, wincing when energy jolted through their fingertips. Suddenly Keefe closed his eyes, as if he was searching for something. While he did this, Sophie watched him curiously, noticing the soft lines of his face and the long eyelashes he had. His blond tossled hair fluttered in the wind and she realized that she wanted to touch it. To run her fingertips through the soft strands of hair... She snapped back to reality. What was she thinking? At least Keefe wasn’t a telepath who could read her mind. Like Fitz... But she couldn’t help but wonder what those icy blue eyes were hiding. That was when she realized that his eyes were in fact open and she was gazing into them. “Hellooo, Earth to Sophie.” He grinned when she flinched. “Couldn’t help but get lost in my eyes?” Sophie rolled her eyes then stared at the ground, what was she thinking? Keefe was a friend to her just like Dex was. “Anyway.” Keefe used his hand to tilt her chin up. “I think... I can tell you what you want to hear now. Assuming you still was to know?” Sophie nodded and couldn’t help but notice how soft his hand was as it lingered at her chin. “The truth is, Sophie that you are the most amazing girl I’ve ever met. You are strong and smart... But also clueless in some aspects. But that’s not the point! As an empath, I want you to know that no matter what you go through I will always be there feeling everything that you feel and standing by your side no matter what happens.” Sophie felt happy tears swelling in her eyes, grateful to have someone like Keefe who would always understand her. “But I don’t want you to feel the pain that I feel... I should’ve realized... I’m sorry.” She fought back chocked breath. Keefe leaned closer. “Don’t be sorry. Getting to experience these things makes if easier to understand you. If it wasn’t for my empathic ability’s, I wouldn’t be as close to you... Not literally but emotionally speaking you know? I mean as friends.” Sophie’s eyes were still burry with tears as that word repeated in her head. Friends. But why was it bothering her? It’s not like it wasn’t true. Keefe raked a hand through his hair. “Why am I so bad at this? Here... Let me just... Show you.” That was when Sophie had realized how close in proximity the two of them were, his hand traced the edge of her chin. And she blinked hard while trying of make out what Keefe was implying through his expression, which would have been a lot easier if she hadn’t been crying. Then it happened. Her eyes widened as suddenly his lips were on hers, caressing her timidly. She swayed as her head filled with colorful emotions and feelings that she couldn’t put her finger on. Her chest swelled from the soft ache it brought, as if both the mind and heart knew what to do. But that’s when Sophie realized they weren’t her emotions, they were Keefe’s. Love, compassion, and hope. Wanting the best for her and not wanting her to worry. Being a better person all for Sophie. Sophie closed her eyes and realized that’s what Keefe had tried to illustrate for her all along. But she was too naive to realize... “WOOHOOO!!! I KNEW YOU HAD IT IN YOU KEEFE!!!” Sophie broke away suddenly, blushing sheepishly as Keefe scowled at Ro. Who ran away screaming “THATS FOR THE LAST PRANK YOU TRYED ON ME!”
