It's a little short, but tomorrow's will be longer! I promise!
Gone
Edaline’s POV: (That’s right! You’re not dreaming)
“Squeak squeak squeak!” Cried Iggy, dive bombing my head.
“Hey! Stop it!” He kept squeaking and zooming between me and the pasture-facing window. “What’s wrong? Do you want me to follow you?” I asked, scanning the grassy fields. Iggy grabbed my tunic in his tiny little claws, yanking me toward the door! “Okay! I’m coming!” Picking up the hem of my dress, I hurried downstairs. All Iggy did was eat, sleep, and fart. Something had to be wrong. Sophie! What could have happened to her now?
“Grady!” I yelled, “Come quick, I think something’s wrong with Sophie!” Grady dashed out of the kitchen where he had been stress- eating mallowmelt. We raced across the pastures, past mammoths, verminions, and dinosaurs, following Iggy to the cliffs. The gate was open. I stopped cold and Grady crashed into me.
“No… she wouldn’t.” I gasped. “SOPHIE!” I screamed, battling the wind that had suddenly picked up. I fought my way to the edge terrified to look down. I did. Nothing. But Iggy was still squealing, I looked at the sea. A huge tidal wave was retreating across the water. Grady gasped, pointing to something glittering below the waves. Using telekinesis, he brought them up. I screamed as I saw the objects. Sparkling in the late afternoon light, were Sophie’s and Dex’s registry pendants.
Now you no why it's short. :)

CRIIIIIIIIII
I FREAKING SOBBED WHILE WRITING THIS
The Funeral
Edaline’s POV:
I glanced in the mirror, recoiling at my complexion but making no attempt to cover the deep black circles and puffy red eyes staring back at me. Playing with a small diamond on my peridot green dress, I waited for Grady. This wouldn’t be the first funeral, but hopefully the last. Finally, Grady walked out wearing his favorite emerald green cape and vest. Neither of us spoke as we made our way to the Leap Master.
“The Wanderling Woods.” Grady’s voice cracked as he called the dreaded name. A single crystal spun downward in the afternoon light. Too much light for a day like this. I sniffed away the last of my tears as the sparkling beam carried us away. The woods and crowds of people fell silent as we approached the small hills of earth. I clutched the hair-wrapped seed as I took in the Dizznees. Juline was sobbing softly into Kesler’s shirt, which was abnormally neat. The triplets cast weepy-eyed stares into the ground, silent for once. Looking up, Juline rushed toward me, and I handed Grady the seed as she threw her arms around my shoulders. He held it gingerly, as if touching it would make it crack- like glass. Tears soaked my cloak as Juline sobbed for her little boy. My eyes welled, and I held Juline tight. Kesler, Grady, and the triplets joined the hug. One big heart-broken family. Hysteria bubbled up, and I nearly laughed. Even the councillors looked misty-eyed as I dung a small hole in the soft dirt and placed the seed inside. Grady’s comforting hand never leaving my shoulder. Choking back a sob, I scooped the earth back over the seed, pouring the vial Grady handed me out onto the soil. A small sapling pushed up, sprouting star-shaped blond leaves and brown seed pods. I heard a twin sob to mine and turned to find Juline bent over a small tree with red leaves and periwinkle berries. It even smelled like Dex. I gathered her in my arms, cradling my sister. We cried together, tears darkening the ground.
Hours later, I was sitting by Jolie’s tree when I heard heart broken sobs from where the new wanderlings were. Walking back, I was shocked to find Keefe Sencen in tears by Sophie’s sapling.
“Keefe?” He turned at my voice. “What are you doing here?” He didn’t respond, just gave me a heart broken stare. I gasped as I realized... he’d loved her. Not a silly crush, but real love. He seemed to sense my realization and nodded. I scooped him up, pulling him close the way I knew Gisela never had. He flinched in shock, then hugged me back, tears soaking my cloak for the hundredth time that day. He pulled away eventually, and spoke.
“I’m sorry Mrs. Ruewen.” I choked on a sob. “She was a great girl, kind, funny and smart. And- yeah.” I guessed he would’ve said beautiful. She was. Had been.
“You know, I think she’s always had a thing for you.” I said with a watery smile.
“Do you have it?” I laughed as he realized what I meant. Pulling him close for one more hug, I whispered,
“Thank you.” He nodded and cast me his own watery smile before leaping home.
I can't...
