The prince of Illea is now 18, and must choose a soulmate from a selected group of people. His father has passed away, and now he must inherit the throne once he selects a partner to rule with. Oh, and did I mention? This whole thing is, like, one big reality TV show, so everyone is constantly on camera. What will happen? There'll be drama, and lots of it, of course. Lots and lots of it. Let the games begin!
Name (First AND last):
Personality (be descriptive please!):
Flaws (real flaws, not just "clumsiness" or "anger issues", which isn't a flaw):
Backstory (I don't want to see "My parents died when I was young and I hated the world so I became an outlaw and I robbed banks but I'm still a good person at heart". Your oc can have dead parents or something but don't make it too dramatic.) (optional):
Caste (Illea has a caste system where 1s are royal, 2s are celebs, 3s are middle class, 4s are dancers, 5s are musicians, 6s are secretaries/cooks/drivers, 7s are trash collectors, gardeners, etc and 8s are homeless):
Skills (not more than 2, and can't be too OP):
Shipping (yes, a Selected can ship with other Selected or a guard or whatever, but keep in mind that it's against the rules of the Selection and the punishment can range between public whipping and death):
Other(what are they? A selected or a guard?):
Rules (credit goes to @TheObliviousWhale for these):
-No Mary Sues. I shouldn't even have to say this. Make your characters have interesting personalities and backstories! If your character has a personality that says 'Pretty, smart, kind, brave', then I will most likely decline your form or ask you to change it. The thing about these personalities is that they don't have flaws. They're not realistic -- because everyone has flaws. Having non-realistic, perfect characters is boring.
-Have diversity. I don't want all the characters to be white, blue-eyed, skinny, "pretty", and straight. I cannot stress how much those kinds of characters with Mary Sue personalities annoy me. Another thing is that "pretty" is not a personality. Everyone is beautiful. The main thing about that "trait" that annoys people (including me) is that the person writing that is basically saying that only their description of the character is beautiful. Maybe that wasn't the intent -- but some users might take it that way. Having straight people is fine because I understand that some people don't know how to role-play as someone with a different sexuality than what they're used to, so I get that. However, if you know how to role-play as someone gay, lesbian, aro-ace, pansexual, etc, then could you try and make your OC as diverse with their sexuality? Thank you. (Password is: niall horan is lyn's husband)
-Use proper grammar and try to use correct spelling. Do not use abbreviations like 'ur' or 'omg'. As long as you use quotation marks and don't say something like 'Mary said omg ur so kool', then you'll be fine. Here's a rule that I won't be enforcing, but I'd prefer if you'd follow it. Add a punctuation mark after your character finishes talking, within the quotation marks. (example: Everett sighed and replied, "Don't worry. I'll be fine.")
-If your character swears, please fully censor it out. (Example: *****, not p*zza). You could also use [redacted] or something similar to that if it would suit you better. If you swear and not censor it out, I will report your comment to an admin or mod and they will remove it.
-Don't play other people's OCs unless they give you permission to. I find it really annoying when people do this, so please don't. Even for small things -- ask before you make their OC do something that they might not want their OC to do.
-Do not kill another person's OC without their permission. That is one of the most annoying things in the world, so don't. It's basically kicking someone out of the role-play, and I reserve the right to be the only one who can do that when it's my role-play.
-No homophobia, racism, transphobia, or sexism. This is an LGBTQ+ accepting role-play. If you don't like that, don't join. Don't join any of my role-plays in the future if you're a homophobe, transphobe, sexist, or racist.
-I'll allow saving spots for twelve hours. If you don't make your form within that time limit, I'll give the spot to someone else. If you specify a reason that you can't make your form at the moment (perhaps you need to go to sleep), then I will make exceptions.
-Take shipping slowly. Real romance/relationships take time, so no official shipping until the pair are platonic friends for a while, then they can be together. But please don't have a pair of OCs talk, one of them blush, and then boom, it's a ship. Please don't make them start dating after five minutes of conversation.
-Don't beg for ships. Don't say something like, "PLZ PLZ PLZ CAN [insert name of OC] BE SHIPPED WITH [insert name of OC]??? PLZ PLZ PLZ!!!!" You can say, "Hey, does [insert name of OC] want to be shipped with [insert name of OC]?" In the form, please do not put "YESSSS PLZ PLZ PLZ" under the shipping category. A simple "yes/sure/other variations of yes" would work; the former would make you sound desperate. (Not trying to target anyone who does this.) Life isn't all about having relationships, so don't beg for one. You don't need to even put a 'yes' for ships, so feel free to put a 'no'.
-Make your OC fit their description. I don't want the form to say that your OC is really sweet, but in the role-play, you role-play them as super snarky or something. It's fine if you put 'TBD' for the personality because some people like to see which personality would fit best with the OC as they go along.
-No advertisements or off-topic conversation. (Okay, it's fine if the actual role-players are discussing something, but please don't put stuff like advertisements or among-us codes.) If you're linking something for someone, it's fine though.
-Two OCs per person. If there are only a few people in the role-play, then I will allow more than two OCs. Also, I'm not putting a limit on how many males/females/nb, gf, etc. characters are open, but if I get a lot of females and no males/gf, nb, etc. characters, then I'll close females.
-I reserve the right to decline any form and kick people out. If there's something on your form(s), then I will decline it and/or ask you to change it. Do not put up a fight, because I will not accept it if you do not make the form correctly. If you use bad grammar or do something that breaks the rules, I will most likely kick you out. I'll probably give you a warning, but if you ignore them, that's on you.
Rules of the Selection (for those who haven't read the books) (btw these are copied and pasted from the Selection wiki):
The contestant cannot fight or sabotage other participants. If the contestant is found laying her/his hands on another contestant, causing her/him stress, stealing from her/him, or doing anything that might diminish her/his personal relationship with the prince/princess, the prince/princess will decide whether to dismiss her/him or not.
If the contestant makes it to the top ten, she/he is considered as an Elite, and will be required to learn about particular inner workings of the life and obligations she/he would have as a princess/prince. Until then, the contestant is not permitted to seek out such information.
If the contestant wins the Selection, she/he and her/his family will become Ones and members of the royal family. The contestant will also marry the prince/princess and become the crowned princess/prince of Illéa, taking on all the rights and responsibilities of the title.
If the prince/princess invites the contestant to do something with him/her, it is advised she/he shouldn't refuse — regardless if it's dinner, outings, kissing, and even more than kissing.
