Please don't let Oralie die, please don't let Oralie die— (or Biana or Marella or ANYONE—)
THIS BETTER END WITH THEM RECONCILING IN LIVVY'S APARTMENT AND HUGGING IT OUT OR SOMETHING ELSE HAPPY
This was so good and so emotional, I love it!
This is so cool! I can't wait for the showdown. I love how you describe Oralie's mental breezes and their method of entry, and Linh is SO FREAKING POWERFUL!
This was so good but so painful. I loved the explanation, and the stellarlune connection!
So how did she reconcile all of her memories of her childhood just being gone? If all of my memories (or most of them) were erased it would freak me out.
The Sophie and Linh stuff was so cute!
How did Oralie survive as a kid if she was abandoned as a nine-year-old (emotionally as well as physically), and why would a memory from when she was so young be in her cache? I thought the caches had Council secrets in them, not backstory.
Whoa! I can't wait for the next chapter!
I'm currently on Archive of Our Own as TheDarkChocolateLord if you want to read more of my writing!
Iggy's new color is awesome!
Wow - that was super complex and really interesting!
Nice job! I can't wait to see what happens with Marella.
I think Oralie is pretty aware that saying that to Sophie would be ineffective, especially after what went down when Sophie realized Oralie was her biological mother, but I agree that Sophie and Oralie being on the same page about their relationship is a good idea.
This is really good, but I'm not sure Oralie would call Sophie her daughter - in canon she's fully aware that Edaline is Sophie's mom and consistently refers to Edaline and Grady as Sophie's parents. I'm pretty sure Oralie knows that she's not really Sophie's family, so this seemed a little out of character, but it was really well written!
Alden and Della are both consenting adults. I'm not sure their relationship is 100% healthy (especially since it's possible that Alden didn't tell Della that Fitz was going to the Forbidden Cities) but that's another story.
I know that age is different for elves, but I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't let an adult date a minor, unless the age gap was reasonable, like a year or two.
I'll admit that I'm not completely sure what Romeo and Juliet laws are. However, I doubt that they'd let a 15-year-old date a 20.5-year-old, which Wylie and Linh could be, if Linh overestimated her age and Wylie was almost 20 when he graduated from Level 8.
Have you heard of the "divided by 2 plus 7" rule? Let's say that Linh is 16 and Wylie is 20. Using that rule, 20 divided by 2 is 10, plus 7 is 17, so Wylie could date a 17-year-old at most - not a 16-year-old like Linh. Going back to your example of a 30-year-old and a 24-year-old, 30/2 +7 = 22, so a 24-year-old dating a 30-year-old is fine. If Alden is 300 and Della is 200, 300/2 +7 = 157, so them dating is fine. At my school, I know of 0 kids who are in relationships where there is a 3-year age gap.
I don't care that 'age is different for elves'. I don't care that 'it's only 3 years', especially since we really don't know how big the age gap is. Their ship page even says that this is a FUTURE SHIP, for when they are both adults, not a current one. If you want to ship them when they're both in their twenties, fine. However, right now, Wylie is an adult and Linh is a minor, even the Elvin way, since Wylie has graduated and Linh is still in school, and we don't know whether the age gap is 3.5 or 5.5 years. Shipping an adult and a minor is not okay.
It's not the age gap itself; I agree that 4 years isn't that big. It's that Wylie is an adult and Linh is a minor. The age difference is proportionately larger, and there's a power difference as well. It makes me really uncomfortable. By human age standards, Linh is in high school and Wylie is in college, and if a human 16-year-old dated a human 20-year-old that would be incredibly sketchy if not illegal. I can see shipping them when they're like 20 and 24, but for now I see Wylie as Linh's older brother. They even live together with Tiergan and Tam - there's no way you'd date your older sibling, right?
I also ship Marellinh, but that's another story.
I get really uncomfortable when stories ship Wylinh because of the age gap - Wylie is an adult and Linh is a minor, and even though age is different in the Elvin world, shipping an adult and a minor just isn't okay.
All the different conversations and emotions were a little hard to follow.
I'm excited for the next chapter!
