we’re products of what we grew up around. we pass information down from generation to generation. as time passes, everything gradually becomes a lie. it starts out with simple things; santa, the tooth fairy, the easter bunny. we grow older and continue to be fed lies deeper than cuts. lies that sting like salt in a wound.
when does it become too much? when will the lies suffocate us? how much longer can we put up with the abuse and corruption in our world? this is more than simply a story; it is our future. a future filled with deceit, abuse, a lack of justice, murders, and much more. we let those above us govern us.
we resort to social media, banners, protests, and hashtags, yet the system remains unchanged. how long will it take us to realize we are nothing more than pawns in a game? we can be killed and replaced. it only takes a few keyboard strokes to have someone impersonate us. we could be buried six feet beneath and yet surface every day on social media as if nothing had occurred.
nothing can last forever. behind our lies, the truth will always sneak up. there is a voice that seeks to fool you, leading you to a room where the light cannot find you. Our lives aren't just chess pieces. we will take a stance, even if it means breathing in smoke from a fire. because we can promise one thing. we will take down any flags. we will rip up any mail. we will deal with any threat. and we will take the lives of any who stand in our way, since there is one thing that cannot be lied about.
if we breathe in the smoke of a fire, then you will too.

amity’s government was infamous for its deception. they promised a better society, a more equitable judicial system, and justice for those who earned it. these are just three of the hundreds of lies that could be stated. despite their pledges, they continue to kill innocent people, steal money from the hardworking, and exploit the vulnerable, and no one notices.
nobody bats an eye because they are scared for their lives. as the years passed, the government became increasingly brutal. they have taken the lives of vulnerable families who steal to feed their hungry children. screams at night from moms whose children were slaughtered by the authorities simply for being out after curfew. those who enter amity are not free to leave at any time; leaving the country requires decades of paperwork.
new documents have been leaked, sending everyone into shock.
a new game will be introduced to the amity society.
the government will randomly select those from the lower classes and bring them to an arena in the middle of the desert. they will fight for their life, given the option to either kill or be killed. the winner will receive ten million dollars. the game will be held every year. the government sees it as a mutually beneficial arrangement. their population size decreases (which has been a concern at amity for a while), and the lives of the lower classes change drastically.
because the documents have been released, the government intends to start the games earlier. they sent security to the tribute houses practically immediately after the documents were leaked. however, it appears that the names of the tributes were already in the document. the tributes had already fled their homes, abandoning their families and escaping for their lives.
the guards have orders to bring the tribute’s families to the government if the tributes resisted. however, the families were able to kill the guards and flee the house before assistance arrived.
that leads the tributes scattered across the country and vulnerable. by now, the government has made false accusations against them. murder, robbery, trespassing, and more. they’ve posted a bounty for the 'criminals'. those who bring one of the rebels to the government will be exempt from the game, which could cost them their lives. they would be selling criminal’s lives for their own.
the rebels get a message. it was only an address. they have no idea on whether or not to go to the location; for all they know, it could be someone from the government. but what's one more risk when they've already taken so many? they walk to the address and find themselves in an alleyway, where they encounter other criminals who share their tragic fate.
someone appears, and they don’t look to be a criminal whatsoever. they appear to be a member of the government, threatening to shoot anyone who moved.
nobody expected that the fate of amity would rely strictly on that moment.
